"remote" thermometer for fever

Which remote (without touching the body) thermometer would you suggest for adults? I know Withings have a good one, but it's 100 chf.

I have an Omron that goes under the tongue or armpit, but it's not quick and often the readings are unreliable.

Re: "remote" thermometer for fever

I didn't even know that such a thing exists -- thermometers that don't actually have to touch the body.

We have a Braun Thermoscan digital thermometer that goes in the ear and has little disposable plastic caps that you put on it each time you use it. Press a button and wait about 2 or 3 seconds while it's in your ear and then the reading appears. We've been quite happy with it and have had it for years. It's also what nurses used to check my temp when I was in the hospital a few years ago. Looks like Conforma has them for about 40 CHF. And most apothekes seem to sell the plastic caps (maybe the thermometers as well).

Yep Braun thermoscan all the way, the ones you use to scan from the outside are indicators and not as precise as you would want.

If you order the Braun, do order a bunch of spare caps along right away if you can, those caps are sold out at a lot of places.

If you have a baby/toddler, we have the Thermoscan 7 since it allows a setting for baby's and one for toddlers so it is more precise for little kids under 3 yrs than a "one size fits all" If indeed only adults as you say, than the cheapest thermoscan from Braun will do just fine.
