Absolute nonsense!
Should I assume that ypu've never worked in one of the thousands of occupations which require the wearing of masks for at least some of the time?

Stop being such a cry baby! We'd be in a right state if surgeons came out with crap like that! Anyway, it will be law so your choices are:
1. Wear a mask in shops.
2. Don't go shopping.

It really is that simple.

Re: Face Masks

Whoever thinks is such a big deal to wear a mask while shopping etc. just think of the medical staff that has to wear the full personal protective equipment for at least 8 hours per day. Compared to the protocols they have to follow for every little thing they do, including when going to the toilet or having their lunch break etc etc your discomfort is nothing. You should be ashamed of yourselves.

But it doesn't offer the same protection as a mask.

Would you rather be comfortable or responsible?

A box of 50 surgical masks costs 30 bucks at the moment, a small price to pay for peace of mind. Worst case I’ve got my Halloween costumes sorted for the next 10 years!

As I've said on a number of occasions, I freely admit I have changed my opinion on all things Covid based on the science and based on the statistics. If only others would do the same.

Am I free to go back and dig out what you said in February regarding masks in order to embarrass you? I'm fairly certain it had nothing to do with PPE stocks

Re: Face Masks

You won't embarrass me because I freely admit I've changed my opinion based upon PPE stocks and changes in the medical advice. However, I haven't changed my opinion on homemade masks as a whole. Some people have really done their research and have sourced proper materials, but some are treating it as a fashion accessory. I still have an unopened pack of FFP2 masks, but because of the valve, the advice on those has changed too.

I wear this mask in the stores now. As an added bonus, it really seems to make people keep their distance.

I can recommened the Swiss company HEIQ, with their viroblock masks. Based in Schlieren I went there to pick it up.
Its antiviral, very comfortable and washable.

I generally don't like doing the shopping. I notice I'm procrastinating even more now. (It does promote creative cooking though .... always something good in anything )

If things develope further, maybe we should stop exporting the Swiss air and keep it to ourselves

.

And for those sewing their own masks, the Swiss textile firm Weba in Appenzell offer several 'Viroblock' fabrics. (I think they partner with HEIQ)

I buy my WEBA Viroblock fabric from Kreando:

So... support your community by wearing a mask when you cannot keep distance, and support Swiss businesses as well. Win-win

Sure, the last decision is your's.
I personally don't have the necessary knowledge to doubt a specialized company. And from what I read it's not that the virus "stays alive" long term on surfaces.

I haven't tried them out yet, I got them for free, it was a customer-offer by Switcher. So far I only needed to use masks in Germany (which will change starting tomorrow) and there I used the 3M hygiene masks.

It was just an information and I personally believe the Switcher masks are still better than home-made ones from an old sheet.

Re: Face Masks

Apparently 2020 is the year of the racoon.

Why?

Well they always wears a mask,
They are fastidious at washing their hands, and
If you rearrange the letters racoon It then spells corona.
