Thanks for all the feedback. Will definitely look into it. I don't mind spending couple of grand for a good service.

I should have posted this in the original post, but one of my main motivation is that I have significant investments with a well-known US broker among expats and unfortunately, they are not very transparent when it comes to the process of transfer upon death for non-US residents. I want to make sure that if something were to happen to me, my Swiss partner can get access to it without too much trouble.

I guess the current situation got me thinking.

Basically you need to make a handwritten statement claiming Heimatrecht. Won't work if you are a Swiss national including dual nationals.

A side issue might be inheritance tax. No idea about the US but for the UK I would be very confident of HMRC arguing that drawing up a will under UK law is a strong indicator of UK domicile and thus liability to IHT. Mind you, a will under Swiss law might not protect against this either.
