Family (in the UK and Mexico), and going to the gym!
Sometimes miss the office environment but working from home is so convenient and better for getting a regulat good night sleep!

Social life has become really awkward. | | | | | I kinda like the fact that the situation is forcing us to develop other social skills and adapt, make other efforts to express the same social warmth, and get resourceful. I guess a silver lining in all this social awkwardness.
The classroom greetings have also become quite creative. I bet nobody will shake hands anymore but will keep their new routines.
Just hope people will come back to their off-line self when all's good and safe again. I will always prefer real life and meeting in person than online.

Not wearing a mask.
Not being able to shake hands with people I appreciate.
Im' sure glad this kissing-nonsense - two? three? let's play it safe: four, which side first? - with almost strangers has finally ended though.
And I'm grateful for that one friend left who is brave enough to give me a good bear-hug when we meet. | This user would like to thank curley for this useful post: | |

I miss hugs - unadulterated hugs, without the fear of contagion.
I miss asking my husband for a pop down to the pub which could turn into a night of new encounters and adventure without the fear of contagion.
I miss getting on an EasyJet flight and discovering a new city on the weekend. I miss the pleasant unknown activities of strolling and looking at the people of this unfamiliar city, maskless.
I miss going to concerts, dancing in unity with the audience listening to a band we love.
And finally, I miss my once soft hands not dried out by disinfectant.

Maybe a few hugs, but none of them ardently. |

The one thing I notice more with all the mask wearing are people’s eyes.
I love how you can see if somebody is smiling or laughing from their eyes.

The Bisous, definitely. A part of the culture I find really warm, it is very odd still

I've always felt really awkward doing it, not part of my culture at all, so I think that's one of the silver linings coming out of the whole cloud of Covid.
TBF I think it's become more common in the UK over the last thirty years or so, but it's still quite alien to many people there. And man-hugs are just... no.

I hope we don't lose the handshakes and multiple kisses.. It would be a shame if something so embedded in the culture was lost.
I hope EasyJet doesn't go bust, it's the only airline that goes/went to Scotland directly.
Other than that I don't miss much at all. Apart from working at home nothing much has changed, we have carried on almost as normal right through.. Almost as in I work from home now, we wear masks as required and we wash hands a bit more.
I feel for those who desperately miss family abroad, important life events etc ..

I don't miss anything really as I'm a unsociable bastard, and I'm still doing pretty much 100% of what I was before covid (albeit with mask). I will miss a family Christmas though. That's something.

Then another couple of hours from Edinburgh to proper Scotland.
I did mean Geneva even though i didn't write that
The Dec-April Geneva <> Glasgow Ski flights are perfect for us, covers Christmas, New Year and Easter..

Living in Switzerland we should be happy that most of our freedoms remain unlike other countries so appreciate that. This virus is not going any time soon, J & J just stopped their vaccine trials due to an illness from one of their guinea pigs.
If you like to be sad and depressed then feel free to reminisce about the good old days.

My mom and I have decided I'm going to visit her later this month. For us, we've decided life is too short and we're not taking the chance that something happens and we haven't had more time. It's a risk, but a calculated one.
But each family has to weigh its risks. Not every family can be together due to all the travel restrictions by country and the quarantine rules. I feel fortunate to have the choice.

Well, I miss the fact that I wasn't able to attend my Mom's funeral. That is /was tough...
But I feel grateful for many things. First and foremost that I was able to SKYPE with my Mom before she passed and that she was able to have a proper funeral. Many were not so fortunate.
And, the timing of my Mom's passing... She would have felt abandoned with the lockdown and she would not have understood why we were not there. She had dementia but she was such a kind, wise and sweet person. Can you tell I still miss her?
She was surrounded by family when she passed and I am grateful. Were it one week later she would have passed alone... One has to count their blessings when one can!
