Is there an easy way to locate doctors that are accepting new patients? Or do you just have to keep calling around until you find one?

I am new to Switzerland and just got health insurance. I need to refill a prescription but have been unable to find a GP in Zug that doesn't have a several week wait list for new patients.

Hi. Google for Ärtzezentrum, you'll find clinics with several GPs, so more chances to find an appointment soon.

Often the insurance companies will restrict your choice of doctor - you might want to check. Many people go to the likes of Permanence/Medix Toujours so-called drop-in clinics. Even if you do find a doctor it can take some time to see them.

Around here more Dr's are using onedoc.ch online scheduling. They usually indicate through that system if they are accepting new patients or not. If you can make an appointment as a new patient you are good. Otherwise they may make you call and check.

Depending on what the medication is, if you have a previous prescription or medication with your name and dosage on the packaging a pharmacist can issue you a supply of meds to tide you over until you see a doctor. And maybe the local pharmacist might also know if there are any doctors in the area accepting new patients or walk-ins? It would be worth asking.
