| | Where to get doctors note for covid
I have covid and feel terrible. I feel I need to take two weeks off to recover. I have a fever and can’t smell and short of breath etc
I have never visited a doctor in Switzerland and have basic health insurance with 2500 excess.
How do I get a doctors letter so my manager can believe I am sick and how much will that cost approx?

The government pays for Covid tests, not the insurance or patient.

You can also call AERZTEFON: 0800 33 66 55 (24h)
The AERZTEFON is the first point of contact for non-life-threatening medical emergencies in the Canton of Zurich.
Those looking for help receive free advice and are referred to the appropriate medical contact point as needed. https://www.aerztefon.ch/
Stay warm & hydrated!
Take care & get well soon!

You have symptoms. Go to your nearest test centre. Get a test. Await the results.
The process is documented here: https://check.foph-coronavirus.ch/screening
This will tell you what to do. Most likely... The canton of Zurich offers the following services:
Contact your doctor or call the ÄRZTEFON emergency number (0800 33 66 55).
Call one of the hospitals with a testing centre:
Affoltern am Albis Hospital
Uster Hospital
Spital Limmattal Hospital
Triemli Hospital
Cantonal Hospital Winterthur
University Hospital Zürich
The University of Zurich’s Centre for Travel Medicine also operates a testing centre. But do the online test, follow the links. It's very easy. No excuse. And the government pays for your test. If you need hospitalisation then it's likely to cost up to your franchise. But you could choose to die instead.

Hence with the positive result you get a sickness certificate?
Or do you "think" you have CoVid based on symptoms?

| | Re: Where to get doctors note for covid ÄRZTEFON emergency number (0800 33 66 55) https://www.aerztefon.ch/ This is for Zurich. In my experience, you can talk to them in English, If the person who answers the call is not fluent in English, they will pass the phone call on to someone who can help. Please don't go out anywhere or do anything until you have the test done. The Artztefon will give you the details of a doctor or clinic that will do the test for you, that is accessible. And yes, any doctor can give a medical certificate. Don't worry about time off right now, get the test done - my son had one done last week (negative) and the results came back in under 24 hours. | This user would like to thank swisspea for this useful post: | |

I thought it was if you have symptoms STAY AT HOME, not go out to a testing centre potentially infecting people on the way. Has something changed?
If you're unwell enough not to be able to go to work you can get a sick note for this. It doesn't have to be covid. The notes are usually available retrospectively for things like this. Being too ill to work but not ill enough to go to a doctor would look a bit suss (suspect) to me.
Check your insurance conditions for doctor choice. You might be able to go to a drop-in centre (after you've self-isolated) If you've got a 'telmed' model you might even be able to get a sick note sent to you. A doctor's visit would probably be about 80CHF plus any chargeable tests.

Some really wrong advice here | Quote: | | | | I thought it was if you have symptoms STAY AT HOME, not go out to a testing centre potentially infecting people on the way. Has something changed? | | | | | This hasn't been true for a while - advice is to go and GET TESTED
Proof, the advice from this week: https://twitter.com/BAG_OFSP_UFSP/st...550466/photo/1
But the most worrying thing is that you have said you are "short of breath etc". This is a LIFE THREATENING CONDITION. Do NOT "stay at home". Do NOT go to work.
Get tested (as seen in link, it's totally free), and tell the staff when you get tested your conditions AND that you are short of breath.
To the other posters: don't ever tell someone to stay at home if they say that they are short of breath.

Quite the opposite actually.
Up to the new campaign (released this weekend) the testing message from the cantons has been rather ambiguous, so why the groan?

That's not appropriate advice to give to someone that says they have shortness of breath.
I feel my reaction was pretty appropriate, given the circumstances! | This user would like to thank Evolvedlight for this useful post: | | The following 2 users groan at Evolvedlight for this post: | |

I think it's important to be clear about these things when health is concerned.

It's ok, despite the name of the forum I'm used by now to people not being very good at English. ;-)
You're right of course - if someone has difficulty breathing the advice should be to see a healthcare professional. Testing in itself is of little benefit. So the advice should be "SEE a DOCTOR" and not just "GET TESTED".
I do think though, if you have mild symptoms, leaving the house to get tested is potentially putting others at risk. I don't pay any attention to groans but I groaned you back in case you do :-)
