| | Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it? Even William Shakespeare enjoys his place in history for getting the early Covid19 vaccination jab.
Yes The 2nd person to get the Covid-19 jab in the UK is none other than the Bard of Avon
namely William Shakespeare from Warwickshire. BBC News - Shakespeare gets his Covid vaccine so All's well that ends well |

Apparently two health care workers with a history of severe allergic reactions had a reaction to the shot yesterday. They seem to be ok, but now the word is that if you have a history of severe reactions to foods and medicines, the shot is not advised at this time. https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ators-reaction
It's not totally uncommon, I think - and they have to research this to see if the source of the allergy can be identified.

Whereas in Israel it will be the prime minister. I think health workers would be more of a priority.

Obama, Bush and Clinton have offered to have the vaccine - live on air - to try and convince wary Americans that it is safe.

| | Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it? | Quote: | | | | | | | | | | Did you read the actual article at all? Here let me bold the key part for you
'As is common with new vaccines the MHRA have advised on a precautionary basis that people with a significant history of allergic reactions do not receive this vaccination after two people with a history of significant allergic reactions responded adversely yesterday.'
So yes, if you're historically allergic to almost everything for your entire life, then perhaps it's not a good idea to get a new vaccine (or any other medicine you've never tried before, such as even over the counter meds).
The key point to actually gain from it is that out of thousands of people who've had it so far only two with a known history of severe allergies got a reaction to it, making it not a concern for most people.

It's not only one vaccine though. There are several out there vying for attention and money, and different governments have reserved different ones. Some are brand new RNA messenger vaccines and some are more traditional (maybe ones grown in eggs?).
I think it's a bit confusing to say "the" vaccine without specifying which one. In this case it seems two people have reacted to the Pfizer vaccine but it was a minor reaction.
What about the other vaccines out there? I've struggled to keep track. Which ones are approved by which governments so far?

Certainly a significant majority only have mild symptoms.
The death rate seems to be settling just below 1%, still very much age related but a lot higher than flu.

So far the Pfizer vaccine has been approved by the UK and Canada. The UAE appear to have approved the Chinese vaccine, assumingly so have the Chinese. The Russians appear to have approved the Russian vaccine. That’s it for the moment, everything else is work in progress.
Edited to add. Bahrain has also approved Pfizer.
