Chuff, but perhaps that's why I'm asking. Because I do understand how it's 'supposed' to work .
And the truth is I find it appalling and I'm havng trouble understanding people who understand immunology and yet they would want covid vaccine.
Give me one of your top 3 reasons why would you get it? |

I have avoided polio, smallpox and Diptheria in my life. I was too late for some later vaccines. I know 2 friends who have died from Covid-19 and a relation who spent 5½ months in hospital with it. He had to learn to walk again and can hardly even write his name now.
So the vaccine will avoid an early death or painful survival for me - so I will take the vaccine ASAP....

thx Olygirl for sharing this
I can conclude that your motivation for getting the jab is > Fear induced . Optimism based (motivation). This is good and noble but at the same time it's no different to believing in fairies etc.
this is what I think >
1. To help alleviate hospitals dealing with patients suffering from serious effects of the illness...
- This could've been true but it isn't . I dont have a particular opinion on this but if you take into consideration how in the first few months, TicTok was full with cool fancy clips with hospital staff dancing and fooling around and how in all countries in the last 5-8 years there's less and less hospital beds for now to say "we're saturated" , to some testimonies of doctors like a recent one published in the Le Monde where this doctor says how she is gutted how different doctors, hospital managers have played heroes or played the game for more funds etc .. puts things into a different perspective
2. by helping to stop the spread of the illness. (seasonal flu jab exists for years yet flu is around every year and in countries like france you have around 20-30k deaths per year due to complications)
3. and to keep myself protected while (yes, but no)
4. keeping businesses open
6. which keeps the economy thriving
7. which lowers the unemployment rate
8. and allows me to finally stop wearing masks
( They keep on saying, all of them from WHO, to Fauci to memebers of the sci advising committees how even after the vaccination , even after the 2nd jab,etc , masks will continue ,social distancing will continue and they predict how this is going to last until 2023 at best but most likely 2025 ). And this is what's frightening .
9. and stand closer to my colleagues and friends
10 while meeting up in bars and restaurants
11 and even perhaps drinking Fosters and discussing travelling
12 to places such as Australia which continues
13 increases tourism that will
all the points come to the simple fact how each one of us wants this madness to be over and are willing to get even 10 vaccines at once if that's the price.. But as none of the idiotic measures (social distancing, arrows, lip nappies etc) were because of the flu or the danger of the flu , we're having a totally wrong approach to the whole issue. |

| | Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it? | Quote: | | | | | We already had the 2 UK mentioned - they have an extensive history of allergic reactions in both cases and 'got a rash' - hardly anything really to worry about.
There's always the extremely small chance for reaction with any vaccine (or over the counter meds in fact if you have a history of allergies) and that's why they ALWAYS have staff on standby, be that flu, MMR or any other jab when doing vaccination programmes. She may have not had a history in this case and that's your one in a million or so chance of a reaction right there. | | | | | Yes, I know. I didn't post that to imply that there is a huge risk of an allergic reaction to the vaccine. I'm sorry if anyone misinterpreted it that way. I posted it to convey the fact that there has been at least one case of a severe allergic reaction to the vaccine despite that person having no history of allergies.

Either way, I really don't care what you do with your own body and what happens to you as a result and feel no need to explain basic common sense to you. Good luck!

Swissmedic have approved the Pfiizer/MioNTech vaccine. The first as a regular and not an emergency approval. https://www.20min.ch/story/swissmedi...f-594987732927 | The following 4 users would like to thank baboon for this useful post:

Well, fair enough. Maybe I've joined this talk too late , each one of you have been talking about this here for months and everyone is a bit tired by now...
Anyhow, as most people here are brits, swiss, americans etc. I thought how most people are open to confront different opinions, ideas, perceptions etc.
That approach "either you want a jab or Darwin will take care you" is too simple.
Because ,no, people who want a jab and believe in it arent the smart ones, who believe science, intelligence etc versus the ones who are dumb, uneducated, loonies..
For the simple reason, because as many pro vaccine health professionals,scientists-doctors are out there you've got as many who are saying quite the opposite .
And yes, science is not supposed to be dogmatic as some guys love to present it here and elsewhere.

"The licensing authority Swissmedic has approved the first Covid-19 vaccine in Switzerland. It is the active ingredient of the US company Pfizer and the German company Biontech. The vaccination protection is over 90 percent seven days after the second vaccination." https://www.swissmedic.ch/swissmedic...zulassung.html https://www.nzz.ch/schweiz/coronavir...gen-ld.1542664 https://www.20min.ch/

It's like challenging that the earth is round, or denying that gravity exists, or any number of other scientifically and/or medically proven facts.
That doesn't make you the creator of a challenging and intelligent debate, it just makes you (willingly) ignorant of the facts. The very thought of needing to convince someone that vaccines are a real preventative measure against disease is simply ludicrous. They literally save millions of lives worldwide each year.

The reality is, we cant have really open discussion about this.
99% of people here work in big pharma or in other corporations and the logic is if you ever question the research, decisions, the whole business , you're a quack, stupid ,thick ,dumb. The ones who are in the public research have to play the game for the same reasons + public research can not survive without private funding and here we are in a complete totalitarian state of body and mind .
Afraid to even express what we think or see because we deep down inside of us know how the others, the society will perceive us if we ever - question whatsoever that comes from the authority . | The following 2 users groan at FairDinkum for this post:

But that means reasonable skeptism. I think its possible to have intelligent debate, e.g. about lockdowns or masks (although we've done that one to death) and take either side.
But vaccines .... the data out there are just overwhelming. And the cost is basically zero. That's not intelligently probing a weak status quo opinion. It's just being a flat-earther.
But hey - in the short term I don't really mind anti-vaxxers. After all, I'll get to the front of the queue quicker if you guys refuse!

No-one who claims to be an intelligent human being can doubt that vaccines generally work unless they are otherwise genuinely delusional and/or in denial of the facts. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I am afraid it is 100% true.
