So many things to think about...
I moved to Bern two years ago, and still have the same GP in Basel, as all of the doctors here seem to not take new patients anymore and I have a nice relationship built with her. If I live in Bern, will I still be able to get the vaccine somewhere here with her "at risk" recommendation from Basel?
Will they ask for proof of your "at risk" status?

Another guy said that it will drag on for 2 more years.
Personally I don't know what to believe which is why I was curious to hear opinion of forum experts like you | | | | | 'Some people at the gym said it' and 'you don't have a clue what to believe'? Goodness grief.
Read the news and inform yourself instead of relying on hearsay. Basic common sense dictates that covid being 'history in 3-6 months" isn't even remotely feasible.

On Saturday I booked a non-refundable, 1-year round the world holiday (starting July 2021). I wish I had checked with you first. That will teach me not to rely on hearsay
Did I say anywhere that I believe that life will be normal in 6 months time? Huffy Chuffy, even an anus won't be able to handle your anality! |

| | Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it? | Quote: | | | | | Some people think that Corona will be history in 3-6 months time. What is your predication? | | | | | This is of course just my opinion, but I would be very surprised if the virus was eradicated so quickly. For one thing, I think it's going to take much longer than 3-6 months to have everyone vaccinated. And the other problem is that there will be plenty of people refusing to get the vaccine, thus presenting the virus with the continued opportunity to find new hosts. Also, they are still unsure how long people will have antibodies after receiving the vaccine(s). The ones who will be refusing to get the vaccines could potentially be really messing things up for everyone else.

Up-to-date vaccination situation by canton: https://www.srf.ch/news/schweiz/covi...ts-diese-woche
Google translate:
Lucerne, Uri, Schwyz, Zug, Nidwalden and Obwalden: the cantons of central Switzerland will start vaccinating on December 23 . The vaccination doses allocated to them are jointly ordered and distributed in order to avoid “political competition” for the fastest vaccination, as the Central Switzerland Conference of Health Directors (ZGDK) announced. If enough doses are available, the actual vaccination will start on January 4, 2021.
Lucerne was the first canton in central Switzerland to announce what the vaccination plan looks like in concrete terms. He is setting up four corona vaccination centers for this. The largest center is in the Lucerne Exhibition Center. Nursing homes and hospital staff have priority for vaccinations. Mobile vaccination teams would head to the homes from the Lucerne Exhibition Center and vaccinate those residents who so wish.
Friborg: The canton of Friborg will start the vaccination program next week . State Council President Anne-Claude Demierre told RTS that Freiburg would start vaccinations in old people's and nursing homes “immediately”. The canton was able to order 3,000 vaccine doses. The first public vaccination center is scheduled to go into operation on January 15th.
Basel-Stadt: The canton of Basel-Stadt will start the first vaccinations against Covid-19 on December 28th . This was announced by the health department. Initially, only people aged 65 and over are vaccinated. The canton carries out the vaccinations in a special vaccination center in the fair. People who want to be vaccinated must book an appointment on a website or on an infoline. Mobile teams are used for vaccination in nursing homes. Because of the need to clarify the nursing homes with their residents, their general practitioners, relatives and possible supporters, it takes longer before the first people in the nursing homes can be vaccinated.
Valais: The canton will also start Covid vaccinations on December 28th . This is announced by State Councilor Esther Waeber-Kalbermatten.
Ticino: The canton of Ticino will vaccinate from January 4, 2021 .
Schaffhausen: The vaccination schedule in the canton of Schaffhausen is currently set for January 4th, Government Councilor Walter Vogelsanger announced on request. The health directors of Eastern Switzerland are in contact with each other to coordinate the procedure, it said. The aim is to gain the population's trust in the vaccination. Due to the limited number of vaccine doses, the risk groups are first in line and a planned approach is important, emphasizes the government council.
Bern: The canton of Bern starts vaccinations on January 11th. The special staff of the Health, Social and Integration Directorate is responsible for this. Frank Neff, member of the special staff, announced in an interview with SRF News that they were ready. The vaccination requires a lot of logistics, personnel, training, but also IT software - everything will be ready on January 11th. The aim is to enable exactly the same conditions for all those eligible for vaccination, explains Neff. From January 8th, residents of Bern can register for the vaccination online or by phone. These will then be carried out from January 11th in the vaccination centers Bern-Insel, Bern-Wankdorf, Tavannes, Thun and Interlaken. The vaccination center in Burgdorf will open on January 14th, and those in Biel and Langenthal will start on January 18th. In Langnau im Emmental the time has come on January 25th.
Solothurn: A definitive decision has not yet been made in the canton of Solothurn. The canton is currently planning to start vaccination on January 4th .
Neuchâtel: The canton of Neuchâtel also had its sights on January 4th, but may now want to bring the campaign forward. In any case, safety is top of the priority list, says canton doctor Claude-François Robert to the Keystone-SDA news agency. "We don't organize a picnic here."
Vaud: In the canton of western Switzerland, it also starts on January 11th . Vaud is checking this Monday whether she can and wants to bring the date forward.
Appenzell Ausserrhoden: According to the media office, the canton is doing everything in its power to start vaccinating as early as possible. According to the information from Swissmedic and the BAG , January 11 was originally scheduled for the start of vaccination. How far this will move forward is currently unclear.
The remaining cantons have not yet announced when their vaccination program will start. The canton of Zurich announces its vaccination schedule this Monday. The canton of Geneva wants to inform on Tuesday . The start of vaccination across Switzerland is January 4, 2021

Thanks! I was wondering how to register for the vaccine. Looks like I’ll just have to be patient until a more definite strategy has been worked out.

By which measure? | | | | | Based on population size it’s third behind Zurich and Bern.
Based on surface area it’s fourth behind Grisons, Bern and Valais.
I can’t find and stats giving Vaud as the largest canton.

For example in the first batch Fribourg will receive about 3,000 doses, whereas Neuchatel will get just under a thousand (source: Tribune de Genève).

| | Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it? | Quote: | | | | | Anyone heard how this is going to work? Will you be automatically contacted when it is “your turn”? Do you have to some how indicate that you want the vaccination? | | | | | I can now give more information on this from first hand experience.
We have just received a phone call from our GP saying that Neuchâtel is going to start vaccinating next week and as both my husband and I are apparently in the high risk group we are eligible to receive it.
We have an appointment with the GP tomorrow afternoon to give us information about the vaccine which they are obliged to do but it looks as though we’ll be getting it next week.
This is obviously only applicable to Neuchâtel, other cantons may do things differently.
