But I am thinking how authorities here make ideas/measures popular usually and there's never any shouting envolved, the opposite. They in fact welcome tone down debates in order to have the opportunity to explain...without appearing too top-down or pushy. So, your usual easy to miss A4 fllyer in city buses, back of ski-passes, homework kids will bring from school, some paper from work, a few toned down reports in the evening news, probably having Didier Pittet speak. I am curious when he shows up.
When is the fed announcement today? Someone knows?

Everyone I know in drug development and related disciplines are going to get the vaccine as soon as they get the chance.

I am genuinely worried that not enough people will take the vaccine for us ever to get out of this. I think, as countries can’t force vaccination on the residents, they should all make it compulsory for tourists coming in. That’ll increase uptake. I know of someone who swore they wouldn’t get the vaccine, until they were told they might need it to go on holiday... then they were like “oh ok I’ll have it then” |

In Zug tonight, the news-casting LED display signs were flashing:
"Person dies in Luzern after having COVID-19 vaccine".
Considering, cause of death has not been published yet, I consider this an irresponsible act by journalists who ought to know better.
Although I bet their target audience are thrilled.

Death was nothing to do with vaccine!
“ The news of the death of a 91-year-old person in the canton of Lucerne after she was vaccinated against Covid-19 is circulating on social media channels and information platforms. Investigations by the cantonal health authorities and by Swissmedic have shown that, due to the medical history and the course of the disease, a connection between death and the Covid-19 vaccination is highly unlikely.
A few days after a Covid 19 vaccination, a 91-year-old person who suffered from several serious previous illnesses died in a retirement and nursing home in the canton of Lucerne. Neither the medical history nor the acute course of the disease suggest a direct causal connection between the Covid-19 vaccination and death. The comprehensive information available indicates a natural cause of death. This was also noted on the death certificate.
So far, no unknown side effects have occurred with vaccinations against the novel coronavirus. At this point in time, there is no evidence of a change in the benefit-risk profile of the vaccine used.” | | | | | | The following 6 users would like to thank Island Monkey for this useful post: | |

Although I bet their target audience are thrilled. | | | | | Curiosity got the better of me, so I looked it up. | Quote: | | | | [Google translate] The first death suspected of being caused by side effects of the Covid-19 vaccination is a fact. On Christmas Eve, the residents of a care home for dementia in the Lucerne agglomeration were vaccinated with the vaccine from Pfizer / Biontech.
The vaccination team did not contact the home doctor responsible. Otherwise it would have found out that one of the residents had previously reacted negatively to a flu vaccination and therefore no further vaccinations were required. Source | | | | | Conclusion: Administration error

Conclusion: Administration error | | | | | It's also a good reason why vaccines should be administered through a gp practice.

They just showed on rts1 that the whole process is quite sophisticated with storing, dilluting the vaccines and administering - I am really glad that they show these details, openness creates trust, the public knows what to expect. https://www.rts.ch/play/tv/emission/19h30?id=6454706
It should show after 20.00.

It should show after 20.00. | | | | | There is no question of GPs carrying out the Pfizer vaccine in their practice, it is just not feasible.
Once the Moderna and Astra Zeneca vaccines are approved (if they are) it will be a different story, those vaccine can easily be stored and administered by GPs.
GPs are playing an important role at the moment in identifying at risk patients and putting them forward for vaccination if they agree to it. The canton here îs insisting that everyone see their GP to discuss the vaccine before they can be put on the list, I’ll be interested to see how we are billed for that appointment and who pays for it.

It should show after 20.00. | | | | | I wonder how many doses they will scrap due to personnel mistakes, delays beyond last use date etc.

Once the Moderna and Astra Zeneca vaccines are approved (if they are) it will be a different story, those vaccine can easily be stored and administered by GPs. | | | | | According to the manufacturer the vaccine lasts for 6 months at -70° C or 5 days at standard refrigeration temperatures. So conceivably a batch of vials could be delivered to a clinic on Monday and then administered throughout the week.
I think this will start happening once the logistics of delivering and administering these things is well established i.e. patients are lined up so the maximum number are inoculated in that short window.
