You can now register for vaccinations in Kanton Luzern - the online registration platform opened today. Timeline is March for the 65-75 age group, and June for the under-65s, but anyone can already register (which I did).

https://lu.impfung-covid.ch
Good news: the Zurich site is coming soon... I just changed the "lu" for "zh" in the URL and it prompted me for a username and password, which usually means it is hidden and awaiting being made public. https://zh.impfung-covid.ch/

I will have it on one of my tabs and be checking it daily.

Thatís exactly how it was for us.

Two and a half weeks later and no evidence of any side effects at all.

I signed up for the vaccine in Kt. Schwyz. Since I'm not 75+, have no pre-existing health issues and don't work in patient-care, I'm expecting it will be at least March before I'm offered an appointment.

Probably April...

the timeline seems like this:

January - very sick and very old
February - 65+
March - all with chronic diseases
April - general population

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

As several EF-ers have already received the vaccine, I wanted to ask you — have you been offered to participate in antibody measurments and asked to come for antibody tests after the vaccination? I am wondering if the antibody levels will be routinely monitored to gain information on the lasting effects of vaccines. Of course there are trials on this topic, but possibly also the vaccinated people are being checked for this?

Israel is leading in vax, because they agreed to pawn the post-vax data to Pfizer. (read it yesterday in CZ press)

I was recruited for a study of antibodies in December. Public health and epi at Uni zrh. The purpose is to refine the antibody test. Iíve not had COVID as far as I know, and Iíve not yet had the vaccine. They took a sample in December. Work on the test is in Lausanne - youíre recruited via population sample. I get a brief survey every week, and a longer one monthly. The brief survey deals with how you feel, some mood questions, whether or not you think youíve been exposed to covid.

Iíve not received my antibody result yet.

I donít know if there are plans to follow the vaccinated, once they receive the second dose. Makes sense if they have the staff.

No offense to the CZ press, but I believe there is more to it. And this story has been circulating for a while. Perhaps the post vax data is a new wrinkle. But, Pfizer isnít doing the vaxing, merely supplying it, oder? I think it might also have to do with the way Israeli society is structured, the fact that they are used to military mobilization and that helps with the admin, they have national health programs, and most of the citizens are in densely populated places. So, easier to vax for the most part.

Personally I can't see the point of this since its duplication of effort, they already have clinical trial patients being routinely monitored for antibody decay and academic institutions around the world are studying it in their general population. I think every effort and spare capacity in Switzerland should be used to vaccinate people.

Sure. I only read it yesterday. Apparently they are percentually leading because they got all the supply they booked, other orders got reduced (CZ as well, the delivery is late). Israel was prioritized because it offered the post-vax data in exchange. Looks advantageous to me, and logical.

The post above made me wonder...Sorry if this is a stupid question.

I thought you develop antibodies after getting an infection or getting a vaccine with an inactivated virus. But I read that these new messenger RNA vaccines don't contain any virus. So how do you develop antibodies that can be detected the same as in people who have had covid or who received a vaccine with inactivated virus? Does the body generate the same exact antibodies either way?

I thing has been mentioned about antibody studies so far but maybe there will be something after the second dose?
I donít suppose they have either the time nor the resources to test everybody.

On a different note my husband has what he thought was an otitis but which the GP diagnosed as an inflamed parotid gland yesterday. She had to fill in a report as he has had the vaccine and it could be considered to be a side effect of it.

I am not sure the clinical trial patients are routinely followed for the antibody decay, collection of this data has to be specifically implemented into the study designs. Some studies have this, but this is not a routine.
But as you say — the academic institutions and other healthcare organizations are studying this, this is why I was wondering if the vaccinated people are offered to participate.
In our company all employees have been offered the antibody test on summer, and now 6 months later they are doing the follow up tests for those who were positive on summer. I am very interested to find out the results!

So one can register now even if not 75+?

That's good news!

Makes sense that everyones should be able to register now, thus giving the cantonal authorities an idea of how many doses should be ordered when supplies are more readily available.

Exactly.
Itís never a good idea to blindly believe everything you read in the press.

There are lots of very good reasons why Israel is so far ahead in the vaccination programme and sharing the vaccination data with Pfizer is just one of them.
There is no evidence that other countries received fewer vaccines because of it but of course it makes for a more interesting story.

Interesting, SZ is two months ahead of LU for the general population. I wonder which of the two cantons has got its estimates right?
