Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

In Zurich it looks like 350 physician practices will receive the vax (so Moderna) and then your practice will notify you. Not sure if that includes all practices. Iím going to check again next week. According to the Zurich site, Iím in group 2. I suspect they are still doing group 1 (over 75)

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

This is a slightly longer article about some of the people that received the vaccine and had a reaction:

https://edition.cnn.com/world/live-n...-21/index.html

Given that there was recently a thread here about allergies to contrast mediums used for MRI, etc. I thought it might be relevant to some.

from end of January (???) apparently one should sign up here and then they will send out a notification where and when you can get a shot.

I'm group 3, so maybe I get something in March-April

Hi all,

Has anyone had the privilege of getting the vaccine yet?

Really interested to hear...still seems like we will all be waiting a VERY long time to get it here in CH.

Are you up for an unblinded, uncontrolled, unscientific post-marketing trial of n=1 patients?

In the name of science, EF-style, you understand.

Double the power! Off to the nearest nightclub, without masks, with you both! And please take public transport.

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

Before you get the vaccine ( if you do ) you should first get an antibody test .

"Every sixth Swiss citizen has antibodies against the coronavirus.
16 percent of the population have had a corona infection. A recent Geneva study shows that children and adolescents are infected more often than the average."

Not really - the two aren't mutually exclusive plus you don't know how long you've had the antibodies for even if you have them. It could have been months and they could be close to waning and being no longer useful to stop you becoming re-infected. Current science suggests younger people's immunity fades more quickly as well (hence why they get infected more):

At least if you have the vaccine you know a much more accurate date of when any planned immunity for you began.

Having had the antibody means that when the virus enters a second time the bodies response is much quicker in the defence. Its stored in the memory so to speak. So its a lot different to the person who has no antibody in the system. And the rsponse time can mean the difference between life and death.

The first time a person is infected with the virus that causes COVID-19, it can take several days or weeks for their body to make and use all the germ-fighting tools needed to get over the infection. After the infection, the personís immune system remembers what it learned about how to protect the body against that disease.

The body keeps a few T-lymphocytes, called memory cells, that go into action quickly if the body encounters the same virus again. When the familiar antigens are detected, B-lymphocytes produce antibodies to attack them. Experts are still learning how long these memory cells protect a person against the virus that causes COVID-19.

And no doubt the effects of the vaccine dont last indefinitely so the need for a second or a third or a fourth!

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

I can also post pretty pictures as well but that still doesn't confirm anything to justify not having the vaccine just because they've had an antibody test if they have the option available to them which is what you'd implied by your earlier post.

Well yes but with your previous alarmist posts on many things Covid-related (such as the one on mask wearing duration the other day) it read more like an anti-vax 'OMG dont have a vaccine if you have antibodies' post. If that's not how you meant it then I think more words were maybe needed to clarify your position.

Thanks but as antibody test would again cost me more money and the vaccine is free, I'll take the vaccine. Plus if I want to travel again odds are I'll need proof of vaccination at some point.

Actually I think you will need proof of vaccination at two points!

True. And probably a negative PCR test both ways until vaccination rates are high enough.
