Should insurance companies be required to cover the costs of Coronavirus treatment for those that refuse the vaccine (for no good reason to be defined)?
Absolutely yes, otherwise it’s a slippery slope to hell e.g smokers and the obese could be next.

Well there is no vaccine for smoking, pity! But shall we stay off the subject of Smoking? That is a slippery slope to hell

There have been flu vaccinations for many years. Generally, only people that are in a risk group for flu will have the vaccination to protect themselves.

Should all people have a flu vaccination in order to protect such risk groups or is the current practice sufficient?

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not advocating for or against. But it is a question that will be asked.

It is not the same as the flu, as there is no ‘at risk’ group for Covid.

Nor it the same as smoking or obesity.

Drivers who fit a certain profile because of their driving habits (and their ethnic origin) have to pay more for their insurance because they are a greater risk so we're already on that slope.

Personally I agree with you on the health issues to a certain extent but I think it needs to be thought about in a different way - by offering reductions or some sort of bonus for those that, for example, don't smoke, or take regular (beneficial) exercise.

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

Amongst the motions passed by the NR on Tuesday (or was it Wednesday by then?) were 2 interesting ones re the vaccine...

1. Those vaccinated will be not required to quarantine (including travel quaratine if I understood it correctly)
2. The BR should join the EU vaccine passport scheme

Pretty hefty incentives! Just needs the SR to agree...

I apologise but NR? BR? SR?

If I remember my airline codes properly these are (or were) Pamir, British Caledonian and Swissair. All defunct now.

Nationalrat
Bundesrat
Ständerat

I'm sorry to admit that the French translations I would have to look up too, so I leave it to you.

They’re German abbreviations.

Nationalrat, Bundesrat and something else that I can’t quite remember.
Those abbreviations don’t really work for those of us in the french speaking part.

Conseil national, conseil fédéral and conseil d’états in french.

Re: Covid Vaccine: Will you get it?

So my GP just called me and asked if I wanted my vax next week - apparently someone ahead of me canceled and it’s my turn. (I am over 65 with some risk factors). I’m happy to do it....I’ll be getting the Moderna vax in the practice.

So that’s why Dominic Cummings had to go to Barnard Castle, he wasn’t really checking his eyesight he was surreptitiously checking out the vaccine production possibilities.

You really have an (unhealthy) obsession for the EU. And a personality cult for "Boris". Yes, Boris is da' man, he sticks it to EU, he leaves those bastards without vaccines. Wunderbar. Anything new on the UK Front?

Only the result of EU behaviour, I find it highly amusing how a tiny irrelevant island can out manoeuvre the EU, perhaps Britain will get it's Empire back ?

An interesting point. I used to get the flu vaccine to protect my grandmother, whom I saw every winter. Since she passed away, I still get it yearly, as it's provided free of charge and hassle by my employer, and I saw a colleague 10 years younger end up in the hospital with the flu.
In the US, by the way, the flu vaccine is recommended to everyone, is much more accessible than here, and they don't specify 65+ as a risk group.

It's not even an interesting point... it's just commonly accepted knowledge and medical science that flu can affect everyone and so everyone should ideally get the flu jab to protect themselves and others as much as is enabled from the jab. Pretending like only "risk groups" can be affected by it is just abject nonsense.
