I agree with you, but what I find interesting is that the public health approaches are so different in the four countries I have experience with. The US is adamant that the flu shot is for everyone; the three European countries maintain 65+ have it for free, the rest pay. As I say, I get it here for free and take it every year, but there are many who would probably take it if it were free and more than halfheartedly advertised to them.

The only person I am aware of getting a flu jab is a member here via Facebook posts.
Only had flu twice in 30 years, the worst turned out to be COVID so having the jab would not have helped.

I haven't checked.
Almost everyone I know at work gets it, from younger to older.

When I arrived in 1985 I was pleased to learn that my employer, together with our group medical insurance company, provided free (at least for the employee) flu jabs in October/November to anyone that wanted one.
So I had one every year for 25 years, and one every year since then. Never had the flu in that period.

Having said that it doesn’t actually cost much even if you have to pay for it yourself.

I would have thought that was patently obvious that was the part I was replying to.
Why mention health insurance at all if you were actually only commenting on your company policy.

Sheesh... | | | | | Except I did not only quote the part about work, I quoted the whole sentence which included the part about health insurance and then specifically mentioned health insurance in my reply.
Either you can’t read or a trip to Specsavers is in order. |

We were charged 22 chf for my husband’s flu shot. He can get one from his employer (Uni Zrh), but he never can get his shit together to go get the flu shot when it’s offered. I don’t remember if I was charged for mine (over 65).
I’ve been getting a flu shot for 20 years, never had the flu. I believe that if you’re in contact with a lot of people, you should get the shot.Even if you’re not it’s a good idea. Before I started getting the shot, I had 3 bouts of walking pneumonia (mycoplasma). Never been so sick in my life.

From the BBC: | Quote: | | | | On Tuesday, MPs heard that about 100 people are trying to enter England each day with a fake negative Covid certificate.
Lucy Moreton, of the Immigration Services Union, which represents UK border and customs staff, told the All Party Parliamentary group on coronavirus that the documents are "very easy" to forge.
Asked how many fakes could be slipping through the net, Ms Moreton said it is "inherently unknowable", adding that a lot of border and quarantine controls are based on "trust".
She told the committee that long queues found at airports could be a "breeding ground" for coronavirus. | | | | | | The following 3 users would like to thank bowlie for this useful post: | |

Probably have had COVID, albeit without symptoms, will find out on the 29 if I have antibodies.

That's ridiculous! | | | | | In the first 18 years of school, I missed exactly three days, as I found three spots of chicken-pox on my torso (my sisters had is FAR worse), otherwise, no other sick days.
None afterwards, either.
