As a child I had 'flu in the early 80s pandemic. It don't know how deadly it was (none of my classmates died, so not so bad) but it made many of us very sick. It didn't affect adults so badly.

I remember laying my head down on my desk on Friday afternoon... and then it was Sunday evening and somehow I was in bed.

I had some kind of respiratory disease last year around March. Out for three weeks. Even my wife was taken out and she rarely is ill. But I tested negative for covid antibodies. I did have the 'flu jab this year as my client offered it free to all workers (not just employees). If they hadn't, I'd've paid for it. 'flu can ruin your day.

I saw on BAG that the over 50s are now being processed in registration order, so I hope to get my jab in the next month or so.

(NB in his defense the term ‘school’ in N. America often means all forms of schooling up to and including post graduate)

I never had a day off school due to sickness ever, the only childhood illness I had was chicken pox and I managed to get that during the school holidays.
I think I got the certificate awarded for maximum attendance every year I was there.


I’ve had the odd cold here and there but not many and I have never had the flu.

I guess some people are just lucky to have very robust immune systems.

I now take an immunosuppressive medication for an autoimmune condition which in theory makes me vulnerable to infection but so far I have had nothing.

Your immune system had nobody left to fight but itself!

I'd expect him to be a clothes-denier, too. Not just a hand-washing and hydrogel-denier.

But if anything gives me his immunity, I'll do whatever he does!

Got the AZ one - blimey. Feel like have been hit by a truck today but hopefully flu-like symptoms will be short lived.
