Not necessarily true. You work with time, or you work with numbers. In this case, they are testing the vaccines in massive amounts of individuals in different countries and continents, it would be equally safe as testing it with fewer people over a longer period of time but now we have the possibility of convincing thousands of people to sign up for this test due to the publicity of the virus, and governments willing to allow for the mass testing in their soil in exchange for delivery contracts.
| | | | | It’s not an either/or scenario, trials need to have both.

I look at it this way, as a healthy not at risk individual i feel i don`t feel i need to get this vaccine or the flu shot.
But I have the feeling that the Bund will go from strongly recommend getting it to ordering persons to get it.

Alain Berset has specifically stated they do not expect the coronavirus vaccination to become mandatory in general.
Of course it may be mandatory for certain situations, and may offer some shortcuts such as not needing to quarantine during travel, but that's still a personal choice.

Fast forward --->
Check ahead to November 2023.. Mark thy calendar and re-read this post, of should I take a vaccine or ? ? ?
People, worldwide and on EF will still be complaining that although an effective vaccine was offered to them, basically for free or low cost, they were somehow opposed enough to make sure that nothing is 100%.
They refused to take it and argued about science was not right for them. Same people will be arguing the people that took the vaccine are being treated differently. etc. etc. etc.

I cannot care less who takes vaccine and who does not. After all it is their own life and they are free to do whatever they want with it. As long as you and your family are protected why would you be angry that not all people follow your logic and prescriptions?

They rely on enough of the population to have the vaccine to stop the disease circulating in order for them to stay safe.

Compare how we handle the pandemic here to the UK. Lockdown v. shut down. Nanny state v. use your head.
The Swiss are given individual responsibility for their own destiny and will not be told what to do by the folk in the next valley.
Any ordering won’t wash with the Swiss...

There is no need for CH to make the vaccine mandatory. What we will see is the requirement introduced by various services and businesses. Schools, including universities, are the obvious ones, but transportation services - cross-border trains and buses, international flights (99% of flights touching Swiss airports), cinemas, concerts, sports venues, hospitals, clinics, dental offices, shopping centres, large shops etc.
As soon as it is determined to be safe the rush will be on.

Before any vaccine (or any medicine) can go to the Swiss market, it must be approved by the Swissmedic regulatory agency. The pharma companies have to submit their applications for this approval, and vaccines for Covid-19 must fulfill similar requirements as any other medicinal products. Vaccines are taken by healthy people as the precaution against the disease, so the safety requirements for approval are very high. We still have to wait for any Covid vaccine to be approved in Switzerland.
Usually getting the US and EU approval is a very positive step for the potential Swiss approval. At the moment no vaccine is approved for use in any country. We have to wait and see which vaccine and where will be granted the approval, but Switzerland will not be the first.
Edit: no vaccine is approved for use in any country, except the Russian Sputnik V of course.

Well the US could certainly use it today, despite any risk.

Vaccine Status: Currently, there is no FDA-approved or authorized vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19. https://www.fda.gov/emergency-prepar...id-19-vaccines | The following 2 users would like to thank leonie for this useful post: | |

Initial tests have shown that the vaccines are not killing volunteers, nor are there any unusual side effects.
But the US could use these vaccines today, despite the risks. In the UK we are seeing NHS workers soon to be given the jab. The US could do that too, but they are probably waiting for some political reason.

Am I concerned that the vax might not be safe? Of course. I wish there were a less risky alternative. | | | | | Don‘t have any parents, etc, but I am 65, have a chronic disease and have been treated for cancer. I‘ll be right behind you. I‘m also looking into a shingrix vax (shingles) as I prefer not to get that one either.

I don’t wanna be any beta tester or earlier adopter... with that being said , I won’t take this vaccine now, I rather wait a little bit ....
The point if it will be mandatory (to take the vaccine) or not, still unclear, but I don’t think that CH would go for this kind of approach...
If the compulsory vaccination were approved, I would say that’s too much government interference.... however there’s always another side...

I listen to people who say, they want more evidence it's safe even after the trials have taken place.... and it makes me glad that there are people who are willing to take part in the trials even before there are any results at all.
