Your first obstacle here if you don't have anything to stand on is going to be the language. There are three primary languages, Swiss-German (related to German, but most Germans can't understand it), French and Italian. Whilst many people speak English, you can't expect people to do so. The larger towns are fairly cosmopolitan (Zurich, Basel, Bern, Geneva), but out in the country it's largely a different story.
Covid has made finding a job tricky. On top of that EU nationals have a right to residence in Switzerland if they have a job only. Support of any kind from the state is at the lower end of the spectrum. People are expected to be self-sufficient, that when push comes to shove, help is available.
You say you're an Irish national. Wouldn't Ireland be a more natural place for you to go?
