| Hi all, I am currently at home with depression and anxiety after a pretty bad burn out. I have been off work since mid November and my psychiatrist has suggested some time in a clinic.
I have read a thread from November last year, which gave me some insight into what this stay could entail. I was wondering if anyone had experience with the Clienia Schlossli Clinic in Oetwil am See. This is where he wants to me to go.
Thank you in advance for any info you may be able to provide. x | |

Hi, I don't know anyone with experience in that clinic in particular, but a good friend of mine spent a few weeks at another clinic, for a similar reason.
They were fortunate to have a good roommate (they were two-person rooms), which was a great start.
Other than that they had set appointments with various professional staff members, and in their free time there were various activities available within the clinic. I also brought over several board games and jigsaw puzzles for them, and several other patients enjoyed them as well.
There were visiting times as well, in which I visited and we were allowed to take a walk around the area. My friend was a voluntary patient, and it sounds like you will be as well, so we could walk outside the grounds of the clinic as well as along their paths, to have a little drink at a cafe.
I guess the cafe option's out at the moment, though, and visiting will be a lot more restricted, but board games & jigsaw puzzles would still be a good idea to take in with you - as long as they help you relax, rather than adding to your stress. A few good books would help as well, whether physical or digital.
Perhaps instead of physical visits, ask a few friends to make time for video chats at certain times each day. It helps to maintain limited contact with good friends, who will help you relax rather than add to the stress which led to your burnout. Warn them in advance of any topics which might trigger your anxiety, so they know to avoid them.
Take your time and get well, since this is your psychiatrist's recommendation. It might seem like a big step right now, and possibly even scary, but in the long term this sounds like a good option for you.
