| | Re: When can we take covid vaccine
Hi all,
I am very happy for those on this thread who have received their vaccinations.
Does anyone know when those in group N might receive the first dose in Zurich? It isn't clear to me if or how much those timelines might have shifted. We are keen to get ourselves vaccinated- without jumping the line obviously.
Thanks.

When I look at the latest stats on the vaccine rollout, I don't think that people who want the vaccine need be too concerned. Seems that Switzerland is now going along a quite a good rate with nearly 30 administered doses per 100 residents. Time to start booking those summer holidays!

A health professional I know told me today that after VD opened the vax to all over 18, the official site got jammed by 48 000 users. That's not bad. I think that vax is a part of holiday planning now.

If you are not vaccinated, get infected, and then spread the infection to someone who gets very seriously ill then maybe feeling guilty is appropriate?

Thanks. | | | | | I spoke with the canton of Zurich last week and they said while they had many free appointments initially, stock was drying up ... not sure how much that helps you. But I would think late May/June at the earliest. Give them a call, they were very pleasant and helpful on the phone.

The website is not helpful. I am aware of which groups are up for vaccination and N is obviously not one of them, hence my question. | Quote: | | | | | I spoke with the canton of Zurich last week and they said while they had many free appointments initially, stock was drying up ... not sure how much that helps you. Thank you for the info, I will try that.

Sorry, but I really can't stand this kind of argument.
I don't know about your behaviour but I know about mine. Have been WFH since last year, basically never get out so I don't see how I can be a super spreader compared to all those people who are travelling and such.
Also, I start hearing about vaccinated people putting pressure so that they can avoid wearing masks, etc. This is plain irresponsible, in my opinion.

I'm at risk and I don't expect anybody (including myself) to do that ... once everyone has the chance to be vaccinated, open it all up. If you choose not to be protected, it is only your own fault if you get sick. For those who can't be vaccinated due to health issues, they have my greatest sympathies...but we ain't continuing on like this for a few immunosuppressed individuals. The sooner we get back to normal life, the sooner we will reach herd immunity to make it OK for them to go out too.

I have my vax tomorrow, just hope I can find my yellow vaccine passport before then, as I would like it added to that... it's looking increasingly like the countries I travel to regularly in Africa will require proof...

You'll get an email certificate after the second jab and whatever vaccine passport (also electronic) might be agreed a little later.
The vaccine centres are basically industrial processing. You queue to go in, go to whichever cubical you are directed to where they scan the QR code you get from registration (links to your personal details per registration including krankenkasse), get jabbed and out to the observation area. Takes about 30 seconds.

It perhaps has yet to be formally shown in papers - but beyond reasonable doubt spreading by a vaccinated person is going to be much, much rarer.

But the plain logic you've used works just as well. I don't think blatted turns up in the papers though!

But I also think end of May is the earliest realistic term.

I was just talking about myself and myself only. | | | | | So your post stating: I don't know any person who's 45+ who wants to get vaccinated amongst my family or friends.
is incorrect.
As you previously pointed out this tread is as per the title "When can we take the covid vaccine" and not "I live alone in a dark hole and I'm never coming out again - so I ain't getting it"...

As you previously pointed out this tread is as per the title "When can we take the covid vaccine" and not "I live alone in a dark hole and I'm never coming out again - so I ain't getting it"... | | | | | Except there are people who panicked a lot here and called for everything closed immediately, called careless kids all sorts of names, called local gov and Berset all sorts of names on a regular basis....all out of being worried about themselves. That's all good, that's what internet is for.
And now, when having gotten the vax date and no longer worried about themselves - it's to hell with risk and open it all and everybody must be on board. Again.
I gotta tell ya, it's hard to make sense of it, sometimes.
I completely get people worrying about vaccinating with something so new, despite the fact that I pretty much have to get vaxed. I do not expect all to be on board, or at least not that fast. Especially here.

But then how long is the fresh vax valid for? 6mo? The brand new giant vaccinariums in GE and LS are starting to make sense. I can't see GPs taking all this continuous vaxing on their list of stuff to do.

It's hardly going to bring down the health system.
