I think so. But then how long is the fresh vax valid for? 6mo? The brand new giant vacinariums in GE and LS are starting to make sense. I can't see GPs taking all this continuous vaxing on their list of stuff to do.
Pharmacists may make sense. But do remember a nurse can do it. Doctor not required.

Here at least they're not recording it in the yellow passport. You'll get an email certificate after the second jab and whatever vaccine passport (also electronic) might be agreed a little later.

.
Here they do stamp the yellow vaccination booklet and also send an sms and document electronically attesting to having received the vaccination. Guess it differs by canton.

In rare cases where there is a severe vaccination reaction, it is useful to have a doctor around.

Except there are people who panicked a lot here and called for everything closed immediately, called careless kids all sorts of names, called local gov and Berset all sorts of names on a regular basis....all out of being worried about themselves. That's all good, that's what internet is for.

And now, when having gotten the vax date and no longer worried about themselves - it's to hell with risk and open it all and everybody must be on board. Again.

I gotta tell ya, it's hard to make sense of it, sometimes.

I completely get people worrying about vaccinating with something so new, despite the fact that I pretty much have to get vaxed. I do not expect all to be on board, or at least not that fast. Especially here.
Um no I think you are being a bit harsh ... speaking from myself, I am worried for ALL people with this virus. But once everyone has the chance to be vaccinated, including those who aren't at risk, I do think we should open up again. There is the small part of the population who can't take the vaccine, and I feel for them terribly. But the sooner we get back to life, the better it is for the greater part of the population & we can develop herd immunity which will make it possible for those who can't take the vaccine to get out again.

On a sunnier note, hubby got his vaccine appointment yesterday! Woohoo!!

BBC Radio New leading with this very positive survey today -

Covid transmission is cut by up to 50% in households (where transmission is highest) after first jab of either AZ or Pfizer.

https://www.today24x7.com/News/one-d...o-50-uk-study/

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-56904993

So it is not all about you, but about you stopping passing the virus on - and importantly limiting future mutations...

It's not really a good use of doctors time to be present at every vaccination 'just in case' of the rare event of a 'severe' reaction.

Giant vaccination centres are how the UK has been so efficient in giving so many vaccines in such a short time.

That and an having enough vaccines and an abundance of volunteers* to help so things run smoothly.

*For those that don't know the term, volunteers are people who have been helping out without getting paid - they are doing it for the good of the community.

In a large vaccination centre, you can have one doctor on hand for thousands of patients - in case there are any problems - not just with reactions.

That's an efficient use of doctors time.

That’s exactly how it was at the vaccination centre in Neuchâtel when we had ours.
There was one doctor there (who was actually a volunteer) who was called up to sort out a couple of queries raised by patients during registration and was on hand in case of any adverse effects.

The vaccines were being administered by nurses or paramedics.

Yes clearly, but not in the many local pharmacies that will also apparently (at least according to what I last read) be doing it.

Indeed. In the time since we had our vaccines Neuchâtel has brought in a whole host of people from different fields to man the vaccination sites both for the admin side and vaccine administration.
Administering a vaccine is really not difficult.

It's not that rare, the first nurse the NHS vaccinated which was televised, she collapsed within 15 minutes.........

The grass is greener is Vaud

Vaccines delivered under the hyper complicate strategy of first come, first served to all people 18+ YO since 2 days ago. Others cantons following in the following weeks. Aargau by mid-May.

https://www.blick.ch/politik/berset-...d16489247.html

If after several months the elder have not bothered to get the vaccine, no one's going to knock their door begging them to accept it. Let's move on and end with this.

So after all the nerves and uncertainty, it seems as if the Swiss government are actually making good on their word, in fact even earlier than promised!

Exactly, especially mine, I did not feel the only flu jab I ever taken, she is a gem.

But I have no illusions about pharmacies probably not being the places to distribute such a high numbers of vax, nor boosts in the future, they would have to hire staff just for this. It is incomparable to flu.

My GP's nurse who has also given me the odd few vaccines boosts in the past can only save their capacity for the people who cannot go to the vax centers or need supervision, regular people just have to be patient and book through the centers.
