AH - so young. Only 2 million in front of me.
That could back-fire. Now that the kids under 15 get ill, they might start from the other side.

Here is the link to details from Vaud.

https://monitoring.unisante.ch/d/krL...d=4&refresh=5m

Not the best results so far. In the over 75 group they are only up to 55% (going up 1% per day at the moment). I know people who are waiting.

A slight positive is that they did close to 4'000 doses today and the number per day seems to be going up. Hopefully it continues/improves.

In the other age groups the doses you see would be people with health problems or people who are in contact with the elderly or people with health problems. For example, my doctor told me that she can't get the shot yet as she is not working in the emergency department.
why do you reckon it is so slow: lack of vaccines; lack of people who can administer the vaccine or lack of urgency/organization?

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

For my age group I will patiently wait until my body adopts to adverse conditions of this world. My immune system tells me everyday, we shall overcome it. It’s a good positive sign. No need to inject any shit in my blood stream. Does anyone else listen to their immune system too?

There's this unnerving thing about positive signs from the body these days.

Aargau is in the sub-65 band... a family member (55-64 age group) got the text for the booking, and will be getting the vax on Saturday,
According to the published vaccination plan there isn't priority on age below 65 - do they have any conditions? Or is this a policy change?

Weirdly Aargau sent me latest "you are still in the system, we haven't forgotten about you" text to me in French. Not sure where that came from as I registered in English and got their previous texts in English (and of course Aargau is a monolingual German Kanton)

My immune system can't talk. Statistically my chance of survival at 32 is pretty much 100%. However I'd rather not have a week of feeling like crap and I certainly wouldn't want to pass it to an elderly neighbour? What does your immune system think about that point?

I got the EXACT same text, and was thinking "wtf? why in French?".

As for conditions, none other than being over 60... I think she ticked that she has contact with people over 65 on a regular basis on the form though... not sure...

It's not just about survival. I have a few friends who went through the experience, most in my age group (35-45). Some had no real ill effects beyond a cold, some still can't walk up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath months later... the worst has "long covid" (whatever that is) and is losing her hair. Regaining their sense of smell/taste seems hit/miss too...

Oh, and as an avid scuba diver, I would rather not have to tick the "COVID" box on PADI forms and need to get (yet another) medical...

Plus, the "sh!t" I eat on a daily basis has much worse effects (and ingredients) than anything in the vaccine... After all, wasn't it MnMs that had titanium dioxide in the coating?

For that very reason, not to take a risk or affect elderly people, I try to avoid contact with any age group. Steps of precaution taken, contacts with large groups of people avoided, work from home executed whenever possible. Practically, the last 15 months are the worst period of time taken from one’s life in terms of social life. If I will keep on avoiding contact further? Sure, as long as ... whatever it takes to overcome this pandemic.

Thing is - eventually it'll find you if you aren't protected. You can reduce your statistical chance of catching it by distancing, but your luck will run out sooner or later. And who wants to socially distance forever?

most of us have had flu a couple of times. We have innate immunity to that through exposure (and possibly vaccination), and it is less infectious than Covid but still we catch it. My brother was hospitalised with flu and delirious at 22 years old. He would have been expected to beat it easily but was very sick. I had it too at the same time - 6 years older and less physically fit but essentially just had cold symptoms. What makes you think you couldn't end up in a similar situation to my brother?

Hermann Cain and the President of Tanzania were both saying Covid wasn't that dangerous. Both died of it. Why take the chance?

Supply problems. Not anticipating that a vaccine would be available so quickly.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I'm in Canton Zurich and according to the vaccine calculators I should be getting the vaccine before the end of March as I'm in the 1st priority group due to illness. But according to my doctor, from the speed that the waiting list is moving it is likely to be May, as under 50's are lower priority.

Quick visits to shops with the least traffic e.g. one to two people. Avoid shopping malls. I am not crazy to wear the mask outside on the fresh air, only when shopping.

4 million folks in front of me, estimated time for the second shot end of May through middle of July.

And I was soooooo hoping to be able to head back to the US for Mother's Day.
Same. Do you have any official ties to the states? Passport, driver's license, pay taxes, own property? Quite a few US states are opening vaccines for much younger age bands (some to anyone over 16), so you might be able to get it there faster and visit family at the same time (after neg tests, quarantine, etc). You can check your state here:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ine-doses.html

Flights are virtually empty. Just a thought.

Given how much US tax we pay, I might not feel all that guilty... But wouldn't want to bump someone who might need it more. I'd rather be able to sleep at night.

I know that after a few scandals where connected people jumped the lines, Chicago, where I need to visit, now checks residency and eligibility carefully. On the other hand, maybe I could swing by Vermont and buy my dream retirement farmhouse on the way over... Oh wait, Vermont is stilll 65+. I'm a few years short.

And so I wait.

My GP has given up trying to estimate when patients will likely get their vaxx, as supplies are still so low with little concrete information available as to when they might expect more.

I asked my GP and she laughed and told me I'd be last. At least she's honest! And as long as you are following guidelines, you aren't "bumping" someone who might need it! An alternative to the appointment Hunger Games, is to use one of the now widely-used apps that let you know when there are extras due to no-shows, expiration, or end of shifts. You sign up for the app, and if doses pop up and you are within range of the facility (pharmacy, clinic, drive-through site), you get a text. Ta! Da! No waste and a few more vaccines in arms.

My hinky state of CT is opening up to everyone over the age of 16 on April 5th. How about a nice farmhouse in the Litchfield hills?

I'm sorry you haven't seen your family. It's hard.

Edit: Pritzker announced Thursday that Illinois is expanding vaccine eligibility to anyone aged 16 and older starting on April 12!! You might still make Mother's Day!

You will most probably catch it eventually, even with those precautions. Covid ain't something that will be gone in a year or two, we will just get better at preventing the worst symptoms one step at a time and reduce it to more localized outbursts due to quick effective testing.

With new variants being much more contagious its an uphill battle with basic statistics. One slip, one scratch of a nose in shop/elevator/after opening postage envelope.

On the other hand, the damage on mental state is very real and present in practically everybody with this kind of lifestyle. Even for hard introverts, being separated from those few really close for more than a year takes a toll (or you take a risk and socialize).

I've had recently both parents infected, and grandparents too, probably independently. They all adhered to very strict rules, but eventually made that 1 fateful small mistake.

Yup. Then I got smallpox and died.

Tried it in my next life with polio, didnít have much better luck.

Smartened up this time around, listened to my body as it said ďhey, Darwin isnít just about the fittest, dumb luck factors in tooĒ and got an MMR vaccine as an infant, with plans for the C19 vaccine. Figure Iíll live longer than some.
