Bummer. That happened to a friend of mine as well this week.

On a related note, I just got an appointment for this coming week in ZH. Problem is I live in OW. Does anybody know what ZH's latest policy is regarding cross-cantonal vaccination?

SG system now seems to work smoothly. Registered in late April (again, long story short), got first shot today, with Moderna. However, unlike others who mention 4 weeks, the second appointment is nearly 6 weeks from now. Still within the 42 day max, though.
Are you in a specific group or the "everyone else" category, as that only opened up today according to the SG information.

AG clearly states on its registration page you must live in AG or work in an AG medical facility

A few weeks ago the government recommended a six week interval between shots in order to increase the numbers getting the first shot but SG is the only canton I know of which is following this recommendation.

How long is ages ago? I only got my text 6 days (vaccinated today) and registered on. January 17th. People who registered in February are still waiting in Aargau.
How was it? I bet they looked at you asking what's that kid doing here? I was asked to confirm my DOB when I got my shot last week.

It was fine - there was quite a mix of ages really. Plenty of older people in their 60s and 70s in for their second jab. Most of the people in for their first seemed to be on the younger end of the spectrum.

Thanks Belgianmum. Other countries are going with longer intervals indeed, and now a study suggests that even longer intervals may work better at least for Pfizer in older people, although this is not peer reviewed:

No particular risk group. I and perhaps others may have been pushed ahead as we had to get new codes after a snafu in the registration system. But in any case many middle-aged people were getting their shot when I went, i would say range 30-60, mostly healthy looking. Perhaps the Saturday slot was given to younger, working people, and that is also why they used Moderna all day.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

The Phase 3 clinical trial of Pfizer began on July 27, so assuming two jabs and 14 days after the second one then it was fully effective for the first batch of people on Sept. 7th.

In the absence of a surge of new infection reports from Pfizer then it is reasonable to assume immunity lasts for at least 8 months.

M’y husband decided to have his antibodies measured when he had his regular diabetes check last week.
He had his vaccine end December/end January and still had an enormous number of antibodies. Given that the immune response declines with age he’s pretty happy with that.

For anyone interested, Zurich has announced in the past 30 seconds that 120’000 vaccinations are now available for over 16 year olds. Take it or leave it:

I read in a medscape newsletter online that some researchers think immunity could last for up to 2 years. Of course, it‘s definitely subject to significant individual variation.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I got an SMS today giving me an appointment for next week. Im 39, live in Geneva and registered early January.

I can ask to reschedule if i want but i cannot choose a specific day or place and it might be in several weeks.

So i will try to take a day off work just to be safe and get on with it

If I were you I'd just ask your manager if you can slip out for an hour. Given they'll want their employees vaccinated it'd be a pretty churlish Manager to refuse such a request.

The vaccine will only take seconds. But if you’re like me and arrive at least an hour ahead of the appointment to make sure I get it, then you do need a bit of time off from work. Your workplace should allow this. Just book it - it’s also in your employers interest to make sure that you are vaccinated.

That only works if the vaccine location is relatively close to your workplace which might not be the case.
It’s what I would do if it was feasible though.

Anyone had any joy calling a vaccination centre in Zurich and asking about no shows and getting an appointment much earlier because of it?

Don't know about that but there are now some early-ish (early June) appts available depending which centre you choose.

You likely need to show up in person, not just call.

It may have been posted already, but does anyone have a list of which Cantons are accepting appointments from Swiss residents who reside in other Cantons?
