I wish people like that could be forced to take a tour of an ICU ward full of people with Covid.
Maskless of course.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I also wish that people who have gotten the vaccine would have done so to protect others and/or themselves, instead of "oh, I am getting my vaccine so I can go on holiday" "I need to travel!" "I want to go here and there".

Not sure who is more selfish: those who get vaccinated just because it's all about ME ME ME or those who are not getting vaccinated (at least they are honest about why they are holding off or whatever).

Very different from Winterthur. I didn't have to search for the center because the large crowd waiting outside could be seen from far away even with my poor eyesight. No physical distance at all, the line to the entrance looked like pre-covid times. Most of the people were getting the second dose (there were two different sections for different doses so it was easy to make an estimate).
Had my second vaccination today at the Oerlikon Messe

It astounds me again how well organized, civilized, friendly and efficient everything is. You go through 5 different contact points on your second vaccination, everyone keeps a good distance, and it really feels like you‘re the only person who is getting vaccinated e.g. „Guten Morgen Frau xxxxx - your second jab” at each point before I‘ve even pulled out my documents. AN explanation, as if I was the first person in the World that they‘d explained it to about how to get your „Impfbuchlein” if I don’t already have one. And then a „schön das es ihnen gut geht Frau xxxxx“ on the final Abmeldung, after the few minutes pause after the jab.

Daughter experienced the same in Wetzikon.

Second jab I felt nothing, while the first one hurt for a split second.

I think it is perfectly legitimate to get vaccinated so that restrictions can be ended. I got the vaccine first to protect myself, but I also want to travel and live a normal life again. I assume most people feel that way.

There are however some people - including some of my friends - who seem to wish for restrictions to last forever and are almost hoping we will soon have a resistant variant popping up somewhere. Stockholm syndrome. I don't get it.

Please, stop talking such pretentious and cringeworthy BS... who cares whether they are doing it for themselves or for the "good of humanity", as long as they get vaccinated?

To say that: "you don't know which is worse, being unvaccinated or getting vaccinated for your own selfish reasons" is probably the most outright ridiculous thing I have read in a long while.

Surely the important thing is that as many people get vaccinated as possible? If the benefits that come with vaccination are a motivator to have it, that benefits all in the long run.

It's actions and consequences that matter. In cases like this one, the motivations are irrelevant.

The majority of people who've had the vaccine so far are elderly and/or have a pre-existing condition. I'm pretty certain that this demographic will be more concerned about protection than taking a holiday.

TBH, I've not heard anyone say that travel is their prime motivation for being vaccinated but I've certainly heard people say that one of the additional benefits they're looking forward to is resuming some sort of normality, and travelling is one of those benefts. That's my position. I'm glad to have had my jabs and be playing a part in us all getting back to normal. When the UK finally allows Swiss travellers to arrive without quarantine, I'm pretty sure that a trip home will be on the cards -- but it's certainly not the main reason for getting vaccinated.

When all's said and done I want everyone to be reasonable and to get their vaccinations. It will help us all -- and help you. I'm not at all interested in what they chatter about to their friends on the subject. Totally irrelevant.

Let me be the first to say it then. It's an added bonus that it might help others but primarily, I want to bypass the silly testing/quarantine requirements for traveling.

I have wanted to be vaccinated all along, but now countries are dropping testing/quarantine requirements for the vaccinated I’ve become much more impatient. Should be good to go in July

Ha haa.

I admit, I was slightly nervous as well. But the very mild sore upper arm after the first shot went away very quickly. It wasn't even bad enough to need a Dafalgan. I had the same soreness in my arm after getting a tetanus shot a few years ago. They say that it's good to still try to use your arm as normal to help the pain go away (rather than trying to not use that arm at all).

My second shot is on June 9th. I'm a little more nervous about potential side effects from that second dose, but from what I've seen, it only lasts for a day or two max, so at least it helps in knowing that it won't last too long. I'll have the Dafalgan on standby for that and prepare to spend a day or two resting and watching some Netflix. The one good thing about side effects from the second shot is that it's your body's way of telling you that it's building protection against the virus. When we get the flu, etc., the reason we often have a lack of energy is due to our white blood cells going into overdrive. So at least with side effects from the second dose, you know it's working.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

Got the SMS with the vaccine appointment. 1st shot next Monday 31st May. 2nd one end of June. Just in time for summer vacations

By the way, I think canton Aargau will finish vaccinating all willing people by end of June because I registered 6 weeks after reservation started. I was last in line and already got an appointment.

From what I found out, the appointment is more dependant on the amount of centres you selected. The more you picked the more likely you are to put you into the schedule

Currently those only registering now are expected to get 1st appointment in early July.

It's my only reason, I have had Covid & already had antibodies. The big joke is that restrictions are identical as we speak.

As Ouchboy mentioned, yes I selected Menziken and other 5 as option to take it. So, it seems no one wants to go to Menziken
