Several times in the last week I have read on Swiss news sites that Switzerland had now launched the "Impfturbo" and we would be top of (continental) Europe now. Blick was particularly loud.

Looking at the numbers, I wonder where they get this from?
On total doses we are keeping up a little better:

Total doses per 100:

(data taken from https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...s-tracker.html)

Israel - 117
UK - 98
US - 89 (worryingly low demand if you ask me)
Germany - 63
Austria - 60
Italy - 59
France - 56
Switzerland - 56

56 appears to be more or less the average in Western Europe. We are infront of Netherlands and Sweden for instance.

Switzerland is using only the best and the safest vaccines. And as for the speed Switzerland had zero covid deaths yesterday so there is no reason to hurry.

Also the percentage of fully vaccinated people is higher in CH than in Germany, France, Italy or Austria.

I certainly hope this is true but I don't think we can conclude this right now. Already there are thoughts that the spike protein is doing more harm than they originally thought with the cardiovascular system being targeted.
Perhaps I should post this in the "conspiracy theory" thread?
Anyway if you care to read this explains some of it.

(if its too long or scientific, you can just skip to the end and read section 6. Discussion and 7. Conclusions)

I'm slightly tempted to put my 2nd dose back a week - I really can not afford to be ill in the week following my 2nd dose.
I am sensitive to all medications etc. and I had no symptoms other than a light headache for one evening and a slightly sore arm for 2 days. Hope the same for you!

I am feeling better today. I had my jab late Wednesday but other than the sore arm the other side effects did not appear until later that evening. I spent all day in bed yesterday, 1g Dafalgan every 6 hours for the fever and headache, and kept hydrated. I had no appetite.

So if you are lucky you will have no side effects or some that last a day or so.

Good luck!

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I had my first BioNTech 3 weeks ago. I had a sore arm for 2 days. I have always been a pretty good sleeper (at least 6-7 hours/night) but sometimes woke at 3 to read for a while before going back to sleep. Since the jab, I've been sleeping like the dead 9-10, even 11 hours. I am normally very, very active doing manual labour on This Old House. Could it be a side effect of the jab, or is it just the relief of having this hell-year over?

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I had a nurse with a sense of humour for my second dose today. As he stuck the plaster on the spot where he had injected me, he said: "Make sure you don't let that fall off... it's your Covid passport and you'll need to show it at the border to go on holiday" :-)

Think of the benefits like avoiding the side effect of dying.

That wasn’t planned from Covid prospective anyway

Broadly speaking, the whole piece is pointing out what Covid DOES do to the heart and speculating that the vaccines MIGHT do the same.

Given that the vaccine amount is small compared to an actual virus infection, doesn't multiply in the body, doesn't even travel very much in the body and only contains modified portions of the spike protein and not the whole virus package, I find it unlikely. Even if so, it will be to a much lower extent and frequency than the actual virus.

The nurse who reminded me to hang on to my plaster this morning also told me that 93% of people have had no side effects whatsoever. I have absolutely no idea if that is scientific fact or just his own guesswork though!

Scientists are skilled at waving the shroud while attempting to raise funding for their research, some causes are more worthy than others.

Someone told me, that if you have side effects after the second dose it is likely that you have already had Covid (knowingly or not). Those who have not had Covid generally are ok.

But if you've already had Covid - why the second dose? Surely it's just a reflection that your immune system is busy working now it's been primed by the first dose.

Because people are positive with zero symptoms?

Exactly. Many people have had Covid and don't know it.

1½ days after the second dose I would confirm this is not true!
