Zurich opened registration this morning. Vaccine appointment given by groups, currently 75+.
Actually, over 65s in Zurich can register too (but appointments can only be made if you are over 75) :

Is there a threat of a big vaccination jam after Easter?
Infectiologist Andreas Widmer fears that the cantons will be overwhelmed with vaccinations in April. The cantons say they can vaccinate more than 100,000 people a day.

20 minutes claim after Easter there is huge boost in vaccination comming.

Who knows. For sure there will be logistics issues to iron out, that is just the nature of it. But at least Zurich is obviously getting ready for a massive ramp up and opening a bunch of vaccination centres. So hopefully things will finally speed up!

Amen to that. So glad to see that things have finally started to move faster.

I was going to wait for my turn patiently anyway, but I think we'll wait less than expected in Kt. Zurich.

Didn't want to twist facts on the application (like I can work from home, but would hugely benefit from working in person in one of my lines of work, or that I volunteer regularly with Red Cross, but not a health professional), so was placed in a group N with 0 chances to get vaccinated before summer. Looks like the only way not to spend this summer like the summer of 2020 will be to get a vaccine elsewhere. A bit frustrating, considering the amount of people reluctant to get vaccinated.

I registered Monday morning for the Lugano centre - today the website says no appointments are left. Assume the invitation will take some time to arrive.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

In case anyone missed the news, ZH opened up vaccine appointments today for groups D and E. Presumably other Kantons have too, or may be even further ahead. So don't despair, there's every chance that the rollout will take less time than you might think. The fact that a sizeable minority might be 'vaccine hesitant' is bad but at least it means others will get the jab even sooner.

Beware that you may not get an 'invitation'. I certainly didn't despite having the AlertSwiss app. It was only spotting a message on EF this afternoon that made me check the online VacMe page, where I found I could book my 2 appointments.

Are these groups specific to ZH?

Did you get a notice that zrh had 78,000 appointments or something.....that prompted us to login to the vacme site.

I thought they were national but if not, I presume that most Kantons will have something similar? It's a way of prioritising the rollout. This is how they're doing it in ZH: https://www.zh.ch/de/gesundheit/coro...html#-72400422

No, not that I'm aware of. It was in fact your message on the forum earlier that tipped me off, so thank you.

The system differs from canton to canton. Here in Ticino we have to register online with mobile no. and then date of both appointments is sent by text message.

Not like they’ve not had time to get sorted The U.K. had training courses for vaccinators, and trained up volunteers such as out of work air crew to give vaccinations. Sort yourself out Switzerland!!

<<Nun brauche es aber so rasch wie möglich eine einheitliche digitale Impfdatenbank, damit der Bund wisse, wer womit geimpft sei.>> But now a standardized digital vaccination database is needed as soon as possible so that the federal government knows who has been vaccinated with what.

Complete nonsense. The government definitely doesn't need to know that!

Anyway, I can't believe people don't have the yellow, international vaccine document, I had that before I had any of my two passports. (And I had those quickly as I started travelling as a baby).

All I've seen over the past years was people being bashed for deciding themselves which vaccine they find necessary and now this outcry about where to register it?
How the fu** do people who get every jab available know when they have to be updated, I wonder?

I gave all contact details when I registered with ZH -- mobile no., email, address, and also installed the AlertSwiss app -- but didn't get any message to tell me my group was now bookable. I spotted a message on EF from @ennui which led me to checking the VacMe page, which allowed me to book. And since booking I've not had an email or text message to confirm anything either. I'm a bit surprised.

In the UK, my relatives have told me that they received all three -- email, text message, letter. And my brother even had an NHS volunteer knocking on his door the day before his test to remind him not to miss his appointment! Apparently if he'd stated that he didn't want to attend the appointment the NHS has a list of other people willing to step in to take his place at short notice. I'm presuming that this level of organisation is partly why the UK is doing so well with their vaccination numbers.

Like I said, it differs from canton to canton, so what may be valid in Zurich will not apply elsewhere, such as down here. In Ticino, the appointments are not bookable online - once registered, we wait for a text message with the dates of the appointments.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

Each canton is doing it its own way. Remember, this is Switzerland and what happens in Zurich will be different from Vaud.
In Vaud (once you've got past the stupid questionnaire, which is dead easy to by-pass (was in the news)), you select your vaccination centre and try and nab a slot before someone else does. You need to give your name, date of birth, phone number and e-mail and that's it.
In Geneva you have to give your AVS number to register.
