Tbh it's pointless having gps do this with the number of vaccines we have. We are now behind even our Eu neighbours.
Italy made it mandatory for all healthcare workers and care workers to be vaccinated...

Most of my family in UK had their first dose, and some of my family in Italy... in the meantime, I keep getting the "keep waiting" text...

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I live in Zurich, in my late 40s, but am registered as someone with Cystic Fibrosis at the Kantonspital Luzern. I called yesterday to enquire about the vaccine, and they gave me an appointment for this Friday. The shot will be Pfizer. CF puts me in a super-high risk group, which is probably why they responded so quickly, but rest assured, they're on it.

I'm not surprised they've responded quickly - quite casual for you to wait 3 months into the rollout with CF!

I was only diagnosed this year, so it's been a mind-f**k to deal with itself, let alone think about vaccines etc. I'm still in the midst of being prodded, poked and awaiting the results of my gene test for the exact mutation.

I have decided to get it now as I plan to travel in July, honestly I don't think I would get it otherwise. I am a proponent of alternative medicines and have been on the receiving end of Kambo medicine, the toxic secretions of an Amazonian tree frog applied to abrasions on the skin, intuitively for some time now. The CF clinic totally respect this and there are case studies being done at the Royal Brompton in London (CF leaders in the world) with fantastic results. That's my vaccine of choice; Jungle Vaccine. This is a story for a different thread I guess.

The quoted article is refering to practices that drop out due to the low renumeration per jab given not due to lack of vaccine.
Others are also donating their free time to volunteer. Nothing says that vaccinations have to be given during normal working hours.
These are extraordinary times that require extraordinary measures. It should not be about money. So no sympathy from my side for those that make it about that.
Absolutely.

So why do we get the vaccine for free?

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

So infuriating that in the UK so many vaccines are wasted last minute by DNAs.

In France, they have a new computer system where people can register to come at short notice if vaccines are unused at the end of the day because of DNAs, which seems like a good idea. When I had mine in Neuchatel Canton the other day, a friend was working there and told me they practically had no DNAs ever since he worked there. Glad to say btw, that although Neuchâtel started slow, they are now doing very well with vaccinations.

Not develop as an adult, it's always been there and all the symptoms are there, it's just that no doctors put 2+2 together. Astonishing when you finally see it. It all makes sense. I have been chasing symptoms for my whole life and especially in the last decade as the symptoms worsened or accelerated.

I learned about it through my sister who was being treated at the Royal Brompton for what we now know was an misdiagnosis (she was being treated for having had pleurisy) - and it was only when she was assigned a new Doctor that he conducted further tests, and there it was. Amazing.

The diagnosis was a blessing. It consolidates everything under one name.

I know that system is in use in Ireland as well. There was a storm in a teacup a while back when unused vaccines were given to friends and family at one hospital, and to a couple of building workers at another. I'd prefer to see them all used rather than wasted, but I think the smell of favouritism made them put in a proper system for it.

Yet at first, when younger adults were queueing for "left overs" and getting vaccinated ahead of time, they were slammed for queue jumping.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

SwissAlert just send out note saying still 18000 appointments available in Zürich for April

Also new - it is now suggested for ALL people who can get a vaccine (i.e. 16 years old and up) to register (versus previous recommendation to only register if you are 65+).

Acceleration definitely happening!

I'm not but "my" EF is. I noticed that the other day too.
I took the times off what EF claims that they were written.

My sister-in-law in the US is 69 years of age and also has CF. She is a medical miracle/anomaly as when she married my brother at the age of 24, her parents cried and said to my Mom, "She is so happy and we hope for the best; but realistically, she may be gone in 5 years". Such was the life expectancy back in the day.

At the age of 40, she gave birth to a child (another miracle given her condition). My nephew was born in perfect health despite the medications she was taking to control her CF; my sister-in-law more or less resigned herself to focus on living and never thought she could bear a child.

She just received her second vaccination a month ago after being in quarantine for basically a year.

Cannot tell you her joy and relief when she had her second vaccine! Very happy for you as well You must feel a tremendous sense of relief!

Likewise - I hope the fact you've been diagnosed in middle age indicates your disease is unusually mild and prognosis good.

It's weird that it was never picked up and that I made it this far. Bill Gates publishes his reading list every year and last year a book in his top 5 is called 'Breath from Salt' - which is about the history, research and development in the area of CF. I bought it, but didn't get very far and abandoned it because everyone dies in it. So I feel like a fraud when the words "I have Cystic Fibrosis" come out of my mouth. Despite being "full blown" in my symptoms (I have them all and then some) - I've never been in such good shape.

So I have some luck in my bad luck in that although I have it everywhere (lungs, pancreas, digestive system etc), my lung function is good. I attribute this to intuitively having found my way to certain breathing methodologies (Buteyko) and practices that are breath driven (Pilates, Gyrokinesis).

As it all accelerated over the years (inexplicable weight loss, pancreatitis, asthma) I was guided to start taking care of myself. At nearly 50 I feel like I'm in my physical prime.

I'm actually grateful that I never knew about it until now. My mother was a single parent with 3 kids and a full time job. I can't help but think that had we been diagnosed as babies, that her life would have been very different and governed by medical regimen. I can't help but feel that we would have been expected to be sick, but instead were left to get on with it. Had I known as a younger man I would have seen it as a death sentence and perhaps gone off the rails.

Chasing the symptoms and never finding a medical reason for them led me to an exploration of the self. One might turn inwards and look for where trauma might be stored in the body. Through not having any medical diagnosis, I explored and healed myself in many ways and properly integrated what keeps me healthy and strong into my life. I practice and teach Pilates and Gyrokinesis, my medicine starts with food. I even managed to get to the bottom of my depression and heal my Self in the process.

Thanks to CF I am now in a good place to take care of my body.

The way I see it, Cystic Fibrosis has been a teacher, and now that I can handle the truth, it's mine to love and continue to learn from.
