Looking at canton Vaud 66% of the +75 have been vaccinated.
The number was stuck on 65% for several weeks and is only very slowly increasing.
Dont know if its because refusal to be vaccinated or other reasons such as lack of information, problems registering, etc.

https://monitoring.unisante.ch/d/krL...d=4&refresh=5m

Canton Vaud has been open for +50 (without any restrictions) for about 2 weeks now.
I think there are several people who do not want to get vaccinated.

I don't know any person who's 45+ who wants to get vaccinated amongst my family or friends. Nobody is antivax (myself included), but everybody has its own opinion (either they do not go out much, or they are not interested in travelling or whatever, etc.).

I am happy that each Canton decides for itself.

If it was up to the Swiss government, then the Swiss german part would be vaccinated much faster than the rest of the contry
There is that, I’d probably still be waiting if it has been a federal affair.

This is the biggest problem in my opinion.
Some cantons seem better organised than others.
I guess Neuchâtel is a medium sized canton and I’ve been very impressed by how well they’ve handled the whole vaccination programme.
Is there a case that the cantons system is great for the clued up who are watching events while not getting the less observant in?

At least in Aargau they *deliberately* avoided publicising registration at the beginning.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

MIL who is aproaching 90 refuses to be vaccinated.
According to her she is no guinea pig.

She just recently moved into a care home so we would very much like for her to be vaccinated, but as the saying goes "One cant get a donkey to drink if its not thirsty"

I think there is probably an element of that in play here.
Even in the cantons like Neuchâtel where they relied heavily on the GPs and specialists to put patients forward in the beginning I think some doctors were far less proactive than others.
A doctor who is not in favour of the vaccine themself is probably not going to be going out of their way to contact patients and inform them about it.

Anyone over 18 and resident in Vaud can now make an appointment for a vaccine.

Things are very disorganized in the Tessin it seems. We both registered on March 31. Hubby got his appts within a few days (he's already had one vaccination) and I received a registration number by text in English. Yesterday I got a text in Italian informing me that my registration has been cancelled. They sent me a link to a website and it says I need to keep checking there to see when I am eligible to register.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

So any of you fellow Schwyzers know if there is a way to check to see if your registration with the cantonal app is still valid?

I registered when the app was first released, have a confirmation code - but since then... crickets.

(Getting worried again, as colleagues younger than I with no conditions have been getting appointments.)

Are you eligible?

If not, Canton has stated several times (last time this morning during the press conference) that if you are not eligible, your entry will be cancelled and you will need to apply when you are.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I got vaccinated on Thursday in Affoltern am Albis in ZH canton with Pfizer. I halved the average age of the queue - so judging by the folks around me getting vaccinated they’re making slow but steady progress. I was in group E.

The vaccine in itself was super quick - it’s the admin side that takes all the time. Paperwork was triple checked by 3 x different staff members. Overall very efficient and well done. Received paper certificate in French/German at the end to confirm my jab et al.

I did suffer from extreme tiredness for 48 hrs but otherwise no complaints. Second dose in a month or so.

It was crickets for me here in Bern even though I was supposed to be notified, I had to actively check everyday on the Bern site for the vaccine.

Sounds like a friend's mother. She's over 90 and in a care home. She doesn't want the vaccine, not because she's anti-vax or anything. She says give it to the young people who are out and about first, they have plenty of life left. If there's doses later for me and I'm still around then that's fine.
--------------

Thanks to the heads-up from SusieQ, I checked the Bern site. I was rather disappointed. I could not choose from a variety of days, only one day next week and only at one site. The next appointment must be made at the same time and for exactly 4 weeks later on that day. No other appointments options. That timing won't work for me, so I'll have to wait a while and try again.

I thought Pfizer was a 3-week wait between doses and Moderna was 4 weeks. If Bern is scheduling everyone at 4 weeks, I guess that means they're only using Moderna? I'd prefer Pfizer or even J&J when it's available. None of my friends and family that have had Pfizer have had bad reactions. Many who have had Moderna had bad reactions after the 2nd shot. One even wound up in ICU at the hospital!

The recommended interval for the Pfizer vaccine is 3-5 weeks so I think Switzerland has decided to simplify things and make it 4 weeks for both of them.
Hubby and I had next to no reaction following our Pfizer jabs whereas our son had a couple of really rough days after his second Moderna shot. He spent most of one day in bed but the GP had warned him that it could happen as the side effects are stronger in younger people.

Yea ... it was the same for me, I panicked and just booked whatever I could get without thinking of conflicts. Luckily for me, I did not have any conflicts. I hope you can get your appointment soon!

Virus will be spreading anyway.

If you get vaccinated, you protect yourself, not others. You can still be contagious.

You protect yourself from the severe effects, and by the looks of it, even if you catch it you are less contagious than a non vaccinated person. Therefore, protecting others.
