When can we take covid vaccine

Hi, I am now working and holding a B permit in Switzerland. Does any one know when or how can we take a covid vaccine? Do we just call our family doctor to make an appointment or someone will notify us when it becomes available?

I do not have any symptom now, just want to take vaccine, because I still need to go outside for my work.

Thanks

Are you over 80?

If not, it's going to be a long wait.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

I sent a polite email to my doctor, asking the same question, and was sent quite an angry PDF statement in response, full of exclamation marks and capitals, basically saying "STOP HASSLING US!" TBH, I was pretty pissed off as the doctor's website has never mentioned Covid once in the last year, and it would save a lot of enquiries if they put their (politer) statement up there.

Anyway, in among the ranting it basically said that for Zurich (my Kanton) all relevant information would be found here:
https://www.zh.ch/de/gesundheit/coro...s-impfung.html

The rant went on to say that all local doctors in Zurich had been sent 100 doses which had been quickly used up, and that they were waiting to hear about arrangements for mass-vaccination centres because administering vaccines in doctors' surgeries was impractical due to the space and ventilation requirements.

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

The important part from chuff's link:

Quote:
In this first phase of the vaccination campaign with little vaccine, the focus is therefore on people aged 75 and over and people with severe previous illnesses (high-risk patients regardless of age) who are most at risk from COVID-19 disease.
I guess being first in the line to get a vaccine is not a privilege, it's a consolation prize. I don't envy at all the first in the line.

The OFSP/BAG reckons that all those who want to be vaccinated should get one by this summer.

You started so well, but the second half was disappointing. It should've continued like this "... and we are all going to be infected and reach herd immunity without a vaccine".

You know, one way or the other, it will be reached eventually, even despite all mutations.

According to the published vaccination plan there isn't priority on age below 65 - do they have any conditions? Or is this a policy change?

Weirdly Aargau sent me latest "you are still in the system, we haven't forgotten about you" text to me in French. Not sure where that came from as I registered in English and got their previous texts in English (and of course Aargau is a monolingual German Kanton)

Re: When can we take covid vaccine

Here is the link to details from Vaud.

https://monitoring.unisante.ch/d/krL...d=4&refresh=5m

Not the best results so far. In the over 75 group they are only up to 55% (going up 1% per day at the moment). I know people who are waiting.

A slight positive is that they did close to 4'000 doses today and the number per day seems to be going up. Hopefully it continues/improves.

In the other age groups the doses you see would be people with health problems or people who are in contact with the elderly or people with health problems. For example, my doctor told me that she can't get the shot yet as she is not working in the emergency department.

Same. Do you have any official ties to the states? Passport, driver's license, pay taxes, own property? Quite a few US states are opening vaccines for much younger age bands (some to anyone over 16), so you might be able to get it there faster and visit family at the same time (after neg tests, quarantine, etc). You can check your state here:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...ine-doses.html

Flights are virtually empty. Just a thought.

Moderna Vaccine

Have you taken the moderna vaccine here in Swtizerland and did you experience any side effects that you did not expect (i.e more than just pain in the arm or mild flu like symptoms)? Anything that kept you out of work for one or more days? Thanks for sharing!
