Support Group online for Caregivers

Does anyone know of a support group for English speaking caregivers who are in Switzerland caring for a loved one who has a terminal illness?

Re: Support Group online for Caregivers

Hello, and welcome to this forum.

Since you're in California, are you trying to help find a group for someone who is already here in Switzerland?

I don't know of an online English-language group, specifically. There are quite a lot of self-help groups in Switzerland, for all sorts of topics. They tend (or tended, prior to Corona) to be groups with meetings, although sometimes people build up their networks online, and/or in person, peripherally to the group. It could well be that by now some groups have migrated to online contact. Within each of those, there may be some segment of people who can speak (or write) English comfortably.

Here, for example, is a list of self-help groups about providing care for a family member, some for children, some for parents, and so on, in German and French. https://www.selbsthilfezuerich.ch/sh...iedeln+SZ.html
Don't be discouraged by the language. Someone may know someone who speaks enough English to help you (or your friend). It might be worth your while writing to all the groups, to describe what you (or your friend) needs. You will see that although some have an individual address, many are c/o the central office. Even so, you might ask, there, whether you should be addressing a separate enquiry to each group, for forwarding.

See also the palliative care network: http://www.pallnetz.ch/.

Besides the very important matter of wanting to be able to share, and gain comfort and encouragement, if there are specific questions you have about how things work here in Switzerland, please do ask, here, and perhaps someone here will be able to suggest some ways to cope with organisational or adiministrative aspects.

Re: Support Group online for Caregivers

Hi - I plan to start an online support community for caregivers in general. If your friend is still looking for a community - let me know.
