Desinfectant drying hands. What do you do?

I think I've had it with the constant desinfectant. Considering the daily use of public transport and working in very busy places, I think I desinfect my hands 30x per day. Wash them at least 15x, always prefer that to desinfectant but it isn't always possible.

I know this will stick with us for a while, but what do you do to keep your hands and nails ok? I cream them constantly but without much effect. Piano is ok but my nails are brittle and break on bass strings and my skin is really dry.

Is there something divine I can put on to not have crazy dry cuticles and brittle nails from hydroalcoholic gels? Does anyone use cotton gloves + lotion over night? Some greasy recipe?

Gloves, but you will need to wash those frequently as well.

I get allergic to talc sometimes :( when it gets humid. But not when climbing, I guess it's coz the talc is dry.

Aldi's Ombia SOS concentrated hand cream. Costs pennies, far better than anything else I have seen at any price point. It's quitelly thick, so you have to rub it in deeply - but your desinfected hands will thank you.

So good I ship boxes of the stuff back home.

If you don't already, perhaps try using your moisturiser after each time you sanitise/wash your hands?

Vaseline would be ideal, was used on babies bottoms in the 60's for nappy rash, avoid using with rubber gloves as it can weaken the rubber.

I do that really frequently, maybe I need to get a greasier one. Oriflame used to deliver the magic pot to me (vaseline but better), but can't find it here.

Hey, I will give it a shot. One has to love Aldi. Can I carry it around? My briefcase will die if it's too chunky. I'll portion off a bit to a container.

Olive oil & cotton gloves over night plus I use Puressential for hand desinfection (it doesnt dry out the hands as much).

I used to wear cotton gloves under latex ones when working in hospital..where do I get them now and here? Pharmacy? My hands are miniscule.

I saw the Puressence around, I will try. Essential oils in it, right?

Not that I can remember, I saw it in Lidl today so probably also in CH.
They also do proper hand creams & intensive care cream that can be massaged in after too much sun etc, probably available from COOP & will have a pleasing smell

That’s exactly what I was going to say.
Olive oil works wonders on dry hands. It works well on feet too, overnight with cotton socks.
Manor has the cotton gloves and so do the pharmacies.

Re: Desinfectant drying hands. What do you do?

The smell is vanity, I know. But with desinfectant, one can guess if it's a proper alcohol ratio just by the smell, so I think my nose is tired and needs a bit of pampering.

I saw Lush yesterday, should have picked up their greasiest hand stuff. But their cosmetics don't like being tossed around in a work bag.

I wonder if this hand issue is a sign of real fatigue, we've had the crisis around for quite long.

Spoil your hands!

(And nose)

I will try the olive oil tonight. No gloves but I wonder if socks stay put on hands throughout the night :D

The disgusting smell of the hand sanitiser at COOP in CH takes some beating, having spent time in Verbier during the first lockdown I could not believe it. Never come across anything as bad in France or Malta.
