It's been more than 24h since my first Moderna shot yesterday, still alive - practically no issues. Have to slap the shoulder to notice anything.
Is it really the case that only on the 2nd vaccination the horror stories unfold?
I've heard of a few cases where someone had side-effects (apart from a sore arm) with the first dose of Pfizer or Moderna, but I think it's quite rare. I guess the reason people usually get worse side effects with the second dose is because it's the second dose that really triggers a strong immune reaction, which can manifest as fever, tirednessness, etc.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

I had the second dose of Moderna last week, the following day I woke up earlier than normal (but not by much), dozed until my normal wake-up, felt like I had a bad cold or a mild flu ... and then drifted off to sleep again when I just "closed my eyes for a second" and was sleeping on and off for much of the day. Elevated temperature (but not officially a fever), achy joints, headache, sensitivity to noise and vibrations - and almost no appetite. I reckon I lost a kilo that day, and I wasn't working my body at all!
The next day was mostly fine, although walking 500m to the station left me feeling a bit tired (unusual for me) and with tingly toes. Also had a slight headache. Powerade helped me, made everything feel better.

Lucky for my boss and colleagues I booked the jab for a Friday arvo ... I think I might've been too considerate ...

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

So, after feeling rough all day yesterday, I started shivering towards the end of the afternoon, and my fever peeked. It reached 38 despite having taken 500mg Mefenacid 2 hours before and 1g paracetamol 1 hour before. I felt awful for about 2-3 hours, and then it passed.

I slept a lot yesterday, and this morning I woke up feeling absolutely fine, albeit still a bit tired.

Hope I won’t feel like that each time if we end up needing yearly booster!

Yes, here, raising hand. Maybe not as rare as most people think. Likely due to having covid but nevertheless very ill.

I had almost included "unless they've had Covid in the past." I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad reaction to your one dose. I think side effects are also common with the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine, but since we don't get that here in CH, I didn't mention it.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

Vaccine second shot: Monday 5th.
No effects on same day but by Tuesday, was just tired and lethargic.
Had the "covid arm" but continued to ice it. It is now contained
No official fever (less than 38) but took a paracetamol nonetheless and slept off
Feeling better now

Side topic...

I had covid back in Oct and go the 1st jab in May. When I got the jab, I was told that I only needed 1 jab as I was previously infected. Today I saw this :

you were previously infected with the COVID-19 virus (confirmed by PCR, rapid antigen test or antibody test) and received one vaccine dose at least four weeks after that.

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...html#428181865

Now I wonder if I should get a 2nd jab... will call my family doctor but is anyone in the same situation ?

Yes, sort of. If you read this page from VD about the Covid certificate, under FAQ, there is more details. https://www.vd.ch/toutes-les-actuali...tificat-covid/ I was reading this attentively for the certificate as its not sure I can get it. But from a health stand point, not from gov't, you should check with your Dr. about when/if to get the vaccine. Although there is a warning on VD website saying those previously infected are likely to have more serious reaction.

I did get the certificate and it actually says dose 1/1 and not 1/2... the certificate is also valid for 12 months from the May jab date which is interesting.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

We got our second jabs yesterday around 13h30. For most of the day it was fine. We both took paracetamol 500mg before going to bed. At night, I felt like if I had a flu and trembled a bit. Needless to mention, the left arm was numb just the same as after the first vaccine. On the other hand, my wife slept like a baby and she was well today. Blood type and body type must make a difference, I guess.

I was doing home office and had to convince via emails / Teams all parties involved in the project that I can still stand on my legs

I had the second jab yesterday morning and I went to bed in the evening feeling slightly off.
I had a mid-level fever all night of 39.5'C, felt nauseous and had a stonking headache.
I'm feeling pretty dehydrated this morning and not particularly rested but better than I thought I would feel.

Bit of a sore arm too.

They coined the term "covid arm", perhaps should coin the "covid hangover" too.

Surprisingly, women are very resilient to this sort of vaccination. My wife was literally feeling 100% as usual. On the other hand, she had had C-section last year to deliver us a beautiful child and that feat in itself called for giving her a break for the next years to come.
