I know people who had horrible side effects after both first and second vaccine! What does that mean? Word on the street is that it means you had Covid before
Could be. There are probably a lot of people out there who had Covid but never knew it because they never got tested or were asymptomatic. I am increasingly finding out that many of my neighbors have had Covid last winter or during the earlier stages of the pandemic. (They sometimes mention this to me when we start chatting in Migros, etc. when we bump into each other). It just makes me glad I was social distancing as much as I was, I guess.

I'm curious what their horrible side effects were (that you mentioned in your post). For example, how much worse their side effects were compared to the typical fever, weakness, etc. It is odd how the side effects can vary. I'm friends with a couple who just received their second dose recently. She had almost no side effects, while he was in bed for two days afterward.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

Pancakes, by "horrible side effects" I meant the usual ones but much stronger form and for longer period for both the first and second vaccine.

Btw I also know younger people (under 40) who had 0 problems with first or second vaccine. I mean absolutely nothing apart from the pin prick

My 15 yo had his first Pfizer dose two weeks ago and didn’t get the slightest secondary effect. We’ll see with the second one mid August.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without side-effects?

Moderna shots:

1. Dose sore arm for 3 days. No other side effects.

2. Dose on this Friday, hell starts from here. 9 hours after getting the shot, I had around 38 fever for 24 hours straight. It peaked at 38.5. Extremely sore arm, headache, fatigue and blurry vision. I'm still in bed.

I recommend NO ONE to take the Modern vaccine. I freaking regret taking it.

Lucky you did not catch COVID that's very minor verses what I got in January 2020. Peaking at 38.5 is still only a low grade fever.

What a silly statement. It's a couple of days of unpleasant side effects and we all got through it fine. For that couple of days of discomfort, we are now protected to a high degree against COVID. It's worth it and I recommend anyone takes whichever vaccine is available to them in Switzerland.

Right. I mean, being stuck in a hospital bed for weeks with a tube down your throat and a 40 degree fever is so much better. Or how about Long Covid? I'd much rather deal with THAT than one or two days of not feeling well due to a vaccination that basically upgrades my immune system.

Get better soon. As I said before this is a taster of how you would feel if you actually caught COVID and it took hold. Instead you’ve been injected with an RNA fragment which can’t do you any harm, and your body is doing an admirable job of mounting a defence.

I also think that my very strange cough at the start of the pandemic might have been covid, but AFAIK there is no way of doing a retrospective test. How did those neighbours find out? Did they test sero-positive for antibodies prior to vaccination? The high numbers of infection in the subsequent waves suggest that relatively few people caught it mildly and then developed immunity.

  • 1st shot – slightly sore arm the next day – okay on day 3
  • 2nd shot – feeling a bit tired, aching muscles, perhaps a slight fever the next day – okay on day 3

Feel free to refuse if a booster shot is needed any time in the future.

Why? I thought I was describing a fairly mild reaction for the record.

Lulumink, I know everyone else thinks these side effects are OK. Perhaps they are BUT blurry vision in my opinion is not normal and I think you should report it as an adverse reaction. I would speak to my GP and ask them to record it on the official database.
I hope you feel better soon.

I guess you could have had an antibodies test to see if you had developed antibodies prior to being vaccinated. That may have helped you know whether or not that cough early in the pandemic was Covid.

With my neighbors who told me that they had Covid, all of them had symptoms and were tested, so that's how they knew it was Covid. Their symptoms seemed to vary quite a bit (whenever someone tells me they had Covid, I usually ask what their symptoms were). One neighbor woman was quite ill with stomach problems, high fever, couldn't eat, etc. (she's in her late 30s). Another woman said she only had a sore throat and sinus issues (also in her 30s). Another is a guy in his 40s who had it along with his wife, but his only symptoms were a loss of taste and smell. I guess his wife's mother had Covid, too, and died very quickly from it. Another neighbor (woman in her late 40s) had it along with her entire family and they were all quite sick from it, including her teenage kids. These are all people who live in my apartment complex.

It is bizarre the way this virus can manifest so differently in people.
