Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

I have had 'covid arm' with the first dose, a hot raised red itchy patch around the site of the injection, about ten days after. Incredibly fatigued since then too, also had elevated resting heart rate.
I'm due to get the second dose on the 5 July, not concerned about any side effects tho, it's a small price to pay, in my opinion. 😉

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

seems like everyone at work who took Moderna had fever and or aches after the second shot. For me - I had high fever and body ache which started exactly 11 hrs after the shot. Lasted through the night and until post lunch the next day.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

got it at midday, got shitfaced with apero, dinner and bar, when I went to sleep I felt like I had a light fever.
The day after I was okay except a light feeling of illness that lasted until about 3 in the afternoon.

The arm was tender if I pressed on the injection point for 2-3 days, but that happens with the flu shot as well, and I never have any issue with that one. No swelling, nothing red or visible.

The day after the first shot I went on a hike so that one was definitely zero effects.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

I have a colleague who developed severe shingles after her first Moderna shot. Kinda gaslighted by her husband ("oh you're just being hysterical") until she collapsed on her bike and then later showed the severe reaction on her skin. She got bounced back and forth between her doctor and the ZH GD until finally they said that she should postpone her second shot. It seems shingles is a real issue, as it's even listed on the BAG's website as having a possible link.

A friend's MIL (close to 80) got heart palpitations after her first Moderna shot and will skip the second one.

I've had my first shot of Pfizer 3 weeks ago, and about a week and a half ago I developed tinnitus, worse in one ear than the other. It still hasn't gone away. I really don't know what to do about the second one...

Most people seem to have weathered at least the first shot well, although I know a few people who've gotten fevers after the first one. Most people who get a second shot of Moderna, however, feel sick for a day and have to skip work.

I had covid arm for about 3 weeks. Mostly red and a little warm, decreasing over time. I had very little soreness after a day or two, just this red area.

How long after the vaccine did she develop Shingles?

I had Shingles around 3-4 months ago, first time in my life and hopefully the last time. I am 100% convinced it had something to do with Covid even though the quick test came back negative.

I am really scared that I might get it again from the vaccine! Apart from the skin pain for 1 month, I did not fall ill or feel weak at anytime from it.

Edit- Someone I know had severe ear pain, fever and chills. Lasted a week but was ok afterwards.

I believe it took a few days (about a week) for it to develop. I'm not sure exactly, but when I get a chance to ask her, I'll edit this if it's not correct.

It's probably worth it to double check with the doctor about the shingles. One of my students had shingles recently, but she hasn't had the vaccine yet and is also concerned. She was infected with covid last year as well, in her home country.

My ears are quite annoying right now, but I'm still planning on getting the second shot. Tinnitus can have other triggers, and I've suffered the past month from allergies and that nasty RSV virus before I got the shot. Everything was piled on top of each other. On top of that, I suddenly changed my diet a couple of weeks ago because I discovered I gained 5 kilos from the lockdown. So who knows why my ears are ringing.

7 weeks on after my second shot of Pfizer, my left arm is far from normal. Still some swelling in the muscle around the elbow despite rubbing in Helium Sodium Gell where the blood clot was, the blood clot seems to have gone.

A bit more Googling, after Covid vaccine it can come anytime in the first 2 weeks (approximately). I will wait and see if it comes I also managed to find a doctor's reply to the same question, and he said go ahead with the vaccine if the Shingles was gone for at least a month.

Shingles is basically dormant childhood chicken pox rearing its head when the immune system is under stress (everyone who had chicken pox has chicken pox virus dormant in their system).

Good luck with your ear!

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

People arenít routinely vaccinated for shingles here and the shingrix vax (2 stage) wasnít available here last I checked. You can get it from Germany or France I think and have your doctor administer it. Also not covered under insurance. Iím considering this once I complete the rest of my delayed medical stuff this year.

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

My husband received the Moderna vaccine. He had a slightly sore arm after the first shot, which lasted only 1-2 days. After the second shot, he felt very tired about 6 hours afterwards, and later had fever, chills and body ache which lasted about 24 hours. He is someone who rarely gets sick, so this vaccine was something!

Re: Anybody got the second Moderna shot without sideeffecs?

5 mins after taking the first Moderna vaccine, I was in high spirits and doing the 15min wait thing and surfing the web. Then suddenly, my head went BOOM! As if my head was getting deflated, and I felt out of my body. This lasted for 2-3 mins but really freaked me out, I kept calm, and it passed. After that, I felt normal and walked 7.5 kms home, like Castro advised (still early days).

Any idea what caused that? (Serious question)

Edit- Vaccine is the Devil's work, anti-vaxers are on to something

Had second jab earlier today, so far so good.

while I expect some side effects, I just reminded myself that things could be worse than this if one catches Covid.
48h update

Started having body pain, headache around 6h timeline
Felt knocked out whole day yesterday, all viral fever like symptoms : loss of taste, full body pain, drowsy etc just no fever .. and when those subsided felt very hungry

Better since today morning , feel almost back to normal now.

Having seen someone recovered from severe COVID, i'm still glad I got the vaccine and will still recommend anyone to get vaccinated if they get a chance.
