My husband has ADD since he was a kid but his parents didnt want him to take medicine, so he has never really treated with it.

Until last year, he decided to see psychiatrist because it really disturbs his work. However the doctor didnt want to give him medicine because of the blood pressure. He has to go for a section every week, its already more than 20 visits, I dont see any progress but worse. Now he sometimes stand up and hit his head over and over again, fell on the floor without knowing what he is doing. I have never seen him like that before. I feel quite sad and pain whenever he hit his head. But somehow I feel a bit strange, it happens most likely during weekend. When he has to go to work or with friends, he could control himself well, becasue he doesn't want to embrassing himself in public.

Does anyone has similar experience and maybe explain a bit why? It really bother me when he hurt himself all the time.
You mean that he hits his head purposely on the wall over and over or that he regularly bumps into it? For the later, those with ADHD have very poor spatial awareness ... if he does it on purpose, he is most likely suffering a great deal from not finding the right treatment - this can cause a great deal of internal frustration, especially if he is trying to hide it on a regular basis.

Ritalin does increase blood pressure, but there are other medications that aren't as impactful - has he discussed this with his doctor?

Re: ADHD treatment costs

Probably the later, he regularly bumps into it, but also a bit on purpose. There is a wooden bar on top, but not directly over his head, when he stand up straightly from a chair, its not supposed to touch the wooden bar unless he leans forward. I saw it quite a few times that he intensionly leaned forward so that his head reached the wooden bar. Its quite painful and such a hugh sound once he hit the wooden bar, normally people should be aware of it after the first hit, but he just sit then stand up and hit his head repeatedly for over 2-3 times until he stop. Now I wonder the reaction is really the ADHD or ADD not something else?

He has discussed with his doctor about the medications but the doctor just said she couldnt prescripe it based on his blood level. The only thing he could do is go to see her for an hour talk every week, which i think its totally helpless. He was never been told that other medications that aren't as impactful.

Frankly I would insist and insist he sees a neurologist....

Have more investigations, even an MRI. Take care.

Re: ADHD treatment costs

Could someone guide me through the process of getting diagnosed in Switzerland? I began the process 6 months ago in the U.K. and last week I had a 1 hour telephone consultation with my old U.K. GP practice and they said they’d refer me for a full assessment but it could take up to 2 years.

But now that I’m in Switzerland it makes more sense to go through the process here.
