| My husband has ADD since he was a kid but his parents didnt want him to take medicine, so he has never really treated with it.
Until last year, he decided to see psychiatrist because it really disturbs his work. However the doctor didnt want to give him medicine because of the blood pressure. He has to go for a section every week, its already more than 20 visits, I dont see any progress but worse. Now he sometimes stand up and hit his head over and over again, fell on the floor without knowing what he is doing. I have never seen him like that before. I feel quite sad and pain whenever he hit his head. But somehow I feel a bit strange, it happens most likely during weekend. When he has to go to work or with friends, he could control himself well, becasue he doesn't want to embrassing himself in public.
Does anyone has similar experience and maybe explain a bit why? It really bother me when he hurt himself all the time. | |

You mean that he hits his head purposely on the wall over and over or that he regularly bumps into it? For the later, those with ADHD have very poor spatial awareness ... if he does it on purpose, he is most likely suffering a great deal from not finding the right treatment - this can cause a great deal of internal frustration, especially if he is trying to hide it on a regular basis.
Ritalin does increase blood pressure, but there are other medications that aren't as impactful - has he discussed this with his doctor?
