Here comes the next wave - 'mandatory' WFH

A bit surprisingly, we (Basel big Pharma) were all emailed today, with immediate effect, to work from home (unless 'absolutely necessary').

Interestingly, they called out the knock-on effect of low vax rates in CH.

So (best guess) 4 months of home office for me ... thanks vax scaredy cats.

So ... you don't appreciate your company trying to make sure you stay safe and well.

I read it that ipoddle is annoyed about this situation being created by those who refuse to be vaccinated, not his/her employers.

I didn't read the post in that way.

I don't think ipoddle has an issue with their employer's actions. Rather, the low take-up in vaccination rates is likely forcing the employer to take action.

Yep, heard today that Roche did this. I'm sure my company will follow suit.

Erm. Both readings work...

So Roche is in favour of vaccinations. Which means - it must be Novartis who are funding the no campaign! (If your hat is made of tin foil, that is)

My pharma company still wants us in the office ... and have been pushing for it even in the early days before vaccination. At least the train to work will be hopefully less crowded now.

OH has been on WFH since 6th March 2020 and has only been into the office once to renew his security passes.

Not an option, and we are all vaccinated in any case.

Good stuff. We are having large in-person team meetings and Christmas dinners coming up. Feels out of time, kind of.

I hope schools will stay open… on-line learning is so anti-social.

I read it as.

We are having large in-prison team meetings and Christmas dinners coming up.

But it's ok - I've my glasses on now.

Back on topic, in case anyone gets upset about temporary diversions, my employer mandates that for team meetings, we're going 2G+. So vaccinated or recovered, plus (company paid for) PCR tests within 48 hours of the meeting.

We mostly work from home anyway.

Same at my office ... we had a few Covid cases that resulted from their insistence to still have Zukunftstag also.

I thought it was like this for a while now. Most of the people in my department ignore the 'work from home whenever possible' directive and went to the office anyway.

I'm so sorry! We had Zukunftstag too, but no eating together, kids with masks throughout. No cases.

The company is still planning a Christmas party in a large, well ventilated place. I'm not sure it'll actually happen, the way things have been going.
