When I was pregnant with my last child, my gynae strongly forbade me from getting a flu vac, as the risks to the baby are not fully determined yet, and not worth the possible outcome. She prescribed homeopathic alternatives to prevent the flu instead by boosting my immune system. I would do a thorough investigation before taking a chance if I were you.
Absolutely Twinkletoes. We also use Oscillococcinum, which is a homeopathic remedy against the flu. There are many others as well, I just didn't want to overwhelm the audience.

In New Jersey, flu shots are mandatory now for preschoolers:

Re: Flu Vacination

Did the person who asked about 'Pneumonia' vaccination mean Pneumococcal - my doctor in Australia recommended this for our kids as Pneumococcal is quite common and results in a few deaths a year...Meningococcal not so many deaths/cases but more media coverage.

Saw our Paed last week in Switzerland (Zurich) and he gave me the info for tick disease (Lyme's disease) - apparently you can do kids from age 6 - a friend's child got it at age 3 and was sick for more than 18 months...

Also, our new Paed checked the schedule for immunisation for Switzerland compared to Australia and what my kids had, and what is 'recommended' here was the same...so no extras other than the Tick one if we choose to do it...

And just so it relates to the topic - thanks for the reminder. Probably a good idea to have at least my husband vaccinated so that he doesn't catch it off the kids...

Re: Flu Vacination

I'm not sure if I'm having a moan or just feeling sorry for meself (sniff) but I'm down with a flu that's one of the worse ones I have had in a long time. Now, I had the flu jab 2 weeks ago and am wondering if

a) it didn't work
b) there is a worse flu to come and it was too soon to feel smug
c) I did something awful in another life

Anyway, ranting aside, wanted to know has this happened to any of you flu jabbers, Lemsip anyone

I am sorry you have the flu, and hope you get better soon, one of the reasons we never have had the flu jab is because a few years ago a family member had it and was very ill afterwards with the flu, she warned everybody she knew never to have the jab.

I am with Lynn take Omega 3, and another good thing to take is Supradyn it is full of high doses of mulitvitamins.

Re: Flu Vacination

The information that I had from my GP is:

The flu vaccination cannot cause you to get flu.

Some people do experience side effects that appear similar to flu.

It does not protect against every strain of flu. New ones develop each year. This is why it is necessary to have the vaccination every year.

You can still get very bad colds. These are not the same as flu.

The combination of these factors may lead some people to believe that the vaccination has not worked, or has had a bad effect.

Additional supplements such as Echinacea or vitamin C should help to improve your immune system and help to avoid colds & flu. Keeping fit, good diet etc. will also help.

I'm so sorry Sweet-tree. I hope you're feeling better soon. I'm very much against the flu jab. If you haven't read this article, please do so: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/ar...e-outrage.aspx

I've known so many people who have gotten deathly ill from getting the shot. There are much better alternatives. Please feel free to email or PM me. I'd be glad to help.

Yeah, you're right of course, just feeling miserable n' moany. Think it is just a very bad sinus head cold on one side with yucky fever.. and anyway if this means I'll not get anything in December when the holidays are here I'll be content
