Re: Familienbüchlein

You only get this if you have children, and if you've registered your marriage in Switzerland (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Re: Familienbüchlein

You get it (at least, you used to get it) when you had your civil wedding (not church wedding), irrespective of whether you have children or not. I don't think that non-Swiss are eligible, especially if you didn't get married here.

Family Register
The Japanese have it, too, called koseki.

No you can't. They were cancelled in 2004 and replaced by an electronic system of registration. But anyhow, you could only get one if you were married in Switzerland.

Both OH and I aren't Swiss, and didn't have our wedding here either, but we do have Familienbüchlein. We are in Kanton ZH.

Odd, as it was issued by one's heimatort, not place of residence, and they stopped issuing/updating them in 2004, as Odile mentioned.

So, I have one from my first marriage, but not from my second.

"Ab 2004 werden keine neuen Familienbüchlein mehr ausgestellt."

"After 2004 no new Familienbüchlein will be produced"

http://www.renaca.ch/dokchfafs-dt.html#fb

Older ones can be updated, however (but don't have to be).

Oh, I meant Familienausweis (I assumed that's the same thing). We got one from Stadt Zürich as our LO was born there, although we live in Gemeinde in Kanton Zürich.

We got a small red book/file with documents inside in 2013. Is that not the Family-book?

Family book is blue, and has pages with type written, hand written, and stamps.

There are no documents in it.

Re: Familienbüchlein

Ours is rust coloured and has our 'Schriftenempfangsschein' in it.
This says that our 'Heimatschein' is deposited at the council offices. It gives us the right to live here i.e. in a place other than our Heimatort.
Entries - some are typwritten, some handwritten, plus signatures and several official stamps.

Re: Familienbüchlein

Interesting how discussion restarts in an 8 year old thread resurrected by a one post newbie yesterday. I must say it seems like a bizarre thing to post as a one off post.

I doubt the OP is interested in the info any more but I guess it could be useful for somebody.

Re: Familienbüchlein

#1 son and his swiss wife were issued with a family book after their wedding in Carouge GE in 2010. It's red and has several pages of handwritten details, plus places to insert additional pages for when children arrive.

Looks like each canton is different.... there's a surprise: not.
