Pays de Gex - watch out for your children

This information might be interesting for parents living near Geneve in neighbouring French villages:

Deux fillettes échappent à leurs agresseurs à un jour d'intervalle

PS. It seems that posted in wrong forum - as this is for politics news. Could mod move it to more appropriate (daily life) section?

Attempted Kidnapping of Minors

Dear All,

Please read the attached information received from French Authorities regarding attempted kidnapping in the Pays de Gex area.

The targets seems to be minors around the ages of 10. It is recommended that all parents reiterate to their chidren not to get
into unknown vehicle, accept gifts from or talk to strangers. It is also advisable that children walk in group, especially coming out of school.

For your information, please read the attachment. I don't want to be a scaremonger but maybe it's worth reminding your kids about not getting into strangers' cars. This isn't very far from some of us.
Bonjour

Oh no! I love the fact that here in Switzerland you still see little kiddies walking to school, as opposed to being ferried there in oversized SUVs.

It would also be nice to have some good news posted once in awhile (this is getting worse then the news on tv or the local papers). Like plenty of parents organizing transports to get their kids safely to school and back home !!!

I have just taken 3 kiddies to school from our area in my vehical, i don`t do this all the time, but seeing it is so cold and windy i did not want the kiddies to freeze, or get blown away.

It must be such a worry for the parents whose children go to school in that area, i am in the German part of Switzerland, don`t get me wrong i know it can happen anywhere, but when it is warned about in the papers then i would be even more worried.

I pray to God that not 1 child is kidnapped, and police catch the *******s that are trying to kidnapp them

I can't even handle the thought of it, having one's kid kidnapped must be about the most unbearable horror in the world, ever. Not knowing what some sicko does to your child ... where it is ... I can't even continue writing ...

Re: Attempted Kidnapping of Minors

Well since I have 2 kids of my own so I can imagine it is the most horrible thing that can happen.. Thats why its important to know other parents, take turns for pick and drop of the kids etc. You should look out for other peoples kids as well ...

I hope world gets better but its not...especially when it comes to children

Re: Attempted Kidnapping of Minors

The problem is here you get sneered and sniggered at for collecting them... even from kindergarten. And they get a hard time from their peers, if not their teachers, if you persist in doing it. Here you have to be strong and stand up for what you decide for your family and your culture and traditions. And pick and choose from the local habits not simply when in Rome...

Re: Attempted Kidnapping of Minors

Luckily where I am you don't get sneered at one bit. All the other mums look out for the kids and it's really relaxed and friendly.

I've let my five and a half year old do it a couple of times 'on her own' but I've always known there was another mum in the background keeping an eye out.

I really hope they catch these people who are trying to kidnap.......
