Re: Looking for English speaking OB/GYN in Zurich area

A close friend of mine has a practice at Schifflände, next to Bellevue. She's Swiss but was raised in the USA and speaks English, Italian, French, German... Very caring Mother and a no-nonsense approach to healthcare. And life, generally

No personal experience of her professional side, ho ho, but if her friendship is anything to go by I'd feel totally confident in her care. Female friends all agree!

Dr. Anna Catrina Stäubli,
Frauenpraxis Schifflände,
Schifflände 22
8001 Zurich

044 251 9255

When in doubt about which practice to chose, a simple call to chat about options is welcome by any Doctor worth her / his salt.

Hi Uncle Max-
She sounds great, but I checked on the website and there is no doctor there by that name. There is Dr. Rossi-Meier and Dr. Frehner-Aufderhaar. Is it possible your friend changed location??

Thanks for your help-

Good work, Holmes, but she's there, don't worry Send an email if you're interested and ask when would be a good time to chat, if you'd like.

Re: Looking for English speaking OB/GYN in Zurich area

Hi Marissa,

I can absolutely highly-recommend my OB/GYN:

Dr. med. Ivrea Florio
Streulichstrasse 19
8032 Zurich
T: 044 390 33 93
http://www.ivreaflorio.ch/

I have been seeing her for five years. I recently (December 2009) had a baby and Dr. Florio's care is absolutely exceptional.

I am very, very happy with Dr. Michael Rabner located in Zurich. Speaks very good English and always has an extra minute to spend with you.

Good Luck.

Suggest good Gynacologist hospital for private insurance

Dear All,

This is my first post and I have recently moved (6 months ago) with my Husband to Switzerland. We were planning our first baby since sometime and now I am positive on pregnancy test.

As we are new and don't have many freinds to refer, I would like to take suggestions from your experience.

Me and my husband both have Full private additional insurance along with basic insurance. May I request you to answer few of my questions.

1. Which is the best gynacologist hospital in Zurich? I have googled and found University Hospital and Hirslanden Clinic, any other hospital or doctor you would recommend?

2. What additional benefits I could get with private insurance? Like, I believe, on private insurance we could see senior doctors, how can I find senior doctors? Any recommendations, experience will surely help.

3. Any additional advice which I should be aware of on planning a baby in Switzerland?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: Looking for English speaking OB/GYN in Zurich area

Hello,

Has anybody had any experience either with Dr. F. Hammer (practices near Toblerplatz or Dr. Giovanni Bass (practices near Seefeld). I need to decide on whom to consult with. Any feedback is welcome.

Best,
Chetana

Hi there,

Re: #1 - Hirslanden is excellent. My OBGYN is registered there. I recently had a baby and her care is excellent (see my note four postings up from yours). Your insurance should cover although best to double-check with them.

Re: Looking for English speaking OB/GYN in Zurich area

Hi, I can fully recommend Dr. Hammer, Gladbachstrasse 95, Zurich. He speaks fluent English, is very professional. I am having my second (of 3) babies with him, due in August. The Bethanien Klinik, which he leads, is also fantastic. Small and intimate, great staff.

I actually live in SZ, but think it is worth the trip into Zurich to visit him.

Re: Looking for English speaking OB/GYN in Zurich area

Hi All,
Just to let u know, me and my husband were trying to concieve for over 3 years and one of the Gynac suggested Zurich Hospital. I could have concieved by IUI, as I did one before( but unfortunately had to be terminated as the fetus was not good), the doctors at the zurich hospital were very adamant for ICSI (which is not covered by insurance). Dr. Leeners did my final treatment, but she is quite harsh and rude and ended me being pregnant with ectopic pregnancy. We strongly suggest not to go to the zurich hospital for the following reasons
1. Different doctors will see you each time you go, so there is no bonding with the doctor.
2. They will not ask for your views, but will impose thier decision on you.
3. And if any thing goes wrong, nobody takes the responsibility as there is no one doctor treating you.
4. Even if the money for the treatment like IVF/ICSI is less, we suggest going to private gynacologist as he will know everything what is going on with you.
You don't have to explain everytime about your history and you don't fear if the new doctor would know everything you told in your first visit.
5. Most doctors speak english but the hospital staff do not.

I see Dr. Knoll at http://www.singer.ch/english.php (same place as Dr. Lang above). You can usually get an appointment with her in about 2-3 weeks versus 6 weeks with Dr Singer or Dr Lang but you still get the benefit of their expertise if needed.

Solco Trichovac vaccine used by Swiss GYNs?

Hi everyone!

Do you know if Swiss gynecologists administer or prescribe the Solco Trichovac vaccine (against trichomoniasis and bacterial vaginosis)? It is a Swiss-made vaccine and I know it is used in some other countries but was not sure about Switzerland...Please share if you have any experience or just happen to have heard of it!

Thank you!
