Insurance coverage

Hello,

Does anybody know if the basic insurance covers the cost of an MRI ( left foot)?

I just received a 800 CH bill and i wonder if the payment would be considered as part of the deductible or not !

Thanks !

Re: Insurance coverage

If the MRI was a result as an accident, then you may be covered by your employer. Otherwise depends on your deductible (franchise/excess) with your insurance company.

If your 'franchise' is CHF 1000 for example, then you will have to pay that plus the next CHF 200 worth of medical bills (if you have any more this year). From then on, the insurance company will pay.

You any case, you need to submit this and any other bills you receive to your insurance company.

From then on, the insurance company will pay 90%. You are still
responsible for 10% of the costs.

Most important, submit all invoices!

Some companies work that you submit your bills, paid. Once they
are checked against your Franchise, then the funds owed will be
returned.

Other companies, you submit the invoices unpaid. They bill you for
the 10%.

Mine does both, fully paid then 10% return for doctor's invoices from
outside of Switzerland. Within these borders, I can submit the invoice
unpaid.

Re: Insurance coverage

Thanks for the quick answer!

I did not know about the 10 % i am still responsible for. Now i know.

My franchise is 1000 CH, and well... this year i have already visited the family doctor who sent me to the hospital where an ultrasound was done(still do not get the bill, any idea about the cost of that one?), and last week i had the MRI done... I guess i am done with the 1000 !!.

Well , i also have to pay 550CH for the Orthopedic sole i have to use in order to correct the Osteoarthritis that was diagnosed. (orthopedics supplies are not covered for the insurance. At least that's what it says in the full description of the basic coverage plan)

A friend of mine who had polio as a child gets an allowance from the IV for inlays in her shoes this may be a possibility for you.
