Did either of the two adversaries sign the recent EF treaty on being nice?

To me it means exactly what it says, no more no less, no tongue in cheek, not insulting, not antideluvian, not patronising and not derogatory, and instead of asking how i ment it, you just put me down as some old-fashioned unfriendly guy who looks down on woman, and all of this while seeing yourself as the open minded person you think you are....

Really ffs...
It was the way it was written that came across as rather derogatory but I put it down to English not being your first language. ( 'She is one of those' is not really the best way of putting it)

Your bizarre overreaction to RufusB's comment and this insulting reply are far more unfriendly and derogatory than your original post.

With my first posting I was under the impression it was a normal posting with nothing unfriendly in it, nor did i mean anything generalising or unfriendly with it, and yeah her response to me asking to explain it triggered something. I don't like to be called some woman unfriendly whatever, not by her, not by anyone. Should she have known me she would have known better.

Not for the exact same product, prices are set by OFAS, there may be a small difference in price for Ibuprofen made by differnet manufacturers.
I was quite certain I noticed a different price for the exact same product when I bought it in a different region.
The only other explanation is that the price increased between the two times I bought it.

By the way, prolonged use of Ibuprofen is not recommended, it can cause liver damage
True, alongside many other problems.
Other pain relief medication can lead to other problems.
Each person must find the one that works best for them. If in doubt, best to ask your doctor.
I rarely take paracetamol or aspirin for example.
It has been suggested that naproxen could be a better alternative to ibuprofen. I have yet to try it to see if the pain relief is just as good.

It's plain and simple sods law...
The more you have of these things, the less you will need them. We have a veritable pharmacy at home and virtually never use any of it.

We go camping for the weekend and forget the first aid kit, everybody gets hurt.
Why oh why does this always happen? I find something similar with plasters for the kids cuts and scrapes. I keep buying boxes as I can never find any when I need one, yet I am tripping over boxes of the flipping things when I am not looking..

Speaking of ibuprofen, new research out shows it isn't as safe as previously thought.

Get a first aid kit and put everything in that?

We've got one at home (a plastic box with a few drawers) and then one to take to the skate park/hiking etc.

When using the latter a couple of weeks ago, my wife told me off as the dressing I gave her had "expiry 2008" on it!

So, where's the best place online to order all that kind of stuff to replace expired or used up bits and pieces? (And which ships to Switzerland).

That's a completely unnecessary and over-the-top response. Cut out the aggression or take a hike. General reminder for everyone follows.

Re: Tylenol (Paracetamol), Ibuprofen, and other simple medicines

ATTENTION EF MEMBERS: Over the last year the moderator team has noticed a significant increase in the number of personal attacks, abusive comments, trolling and single agenda posts. This anti-social behaviour has led to numerous complaints via PM and is creating an increasingly unpleasant environment that is driving away both new and established members. For example, many avoid advertising on the EF Marketplace -- a valued feature of EF -- since it’s not worth the abuse and aggravation they now expect to receive.

We encourage our members to voice their opinions and robustly argue their points in a respectful manner. Of course disagreements are to be expected, but we expect members not to troll, stir up religious and/or racial hatred, post deliberately misleading or provocative articles, or bully or attack those that they disagree with.

So we reserve the right to aggressively delete without further notice all anti-social posts of this nature. If the behaviour persists then we will not hesitate to ban the offending member.

Please note that these expectations of civilised behaviour also apply to personal messages and reputation comments. Action may be taken if these are reported to the mods.

Please help us make EF a pleasant place for all, and not just a playground for the few.

I helped an elderly neighbour (in her mid 90s) clear out a drawer and we found her late husband's injection syringes which had expired in 1979...

Re: Tylenol (Paracetamol), Ibuprofen, and other simple medicines

It appears that many medications are still effective at least 15 years past expiration.

https://www.health.harvard.edu/stayi...-mean-anything

The exceptions being insulin, nitroglycerin and liquid antibiotics, and some others. I know that the ibuprofen in my cabinet expired in 2013 and it works...

For me, anything bigger than a 40 count package is a waste.

Yesterday I went to buy a small tube of Vita Merfen, it's an ointment for cuts and scratches sort of thing. The lady in the pharmacy looked at me as if I were mad. 'That's not made anymore' she said and sold me its replacement. The little rest I have in the tube does however still work.

However, just to say, I have a 'Buxton Rubbing Bottle' in the bathroom, this is to rub in when muscle pain kicks in, sciatica and similar stuff. It still works - we brought it from London in 1967!

I'm not sure it's really worth it for small amounts of stuff that are used so infrequently.
Lidl and Aldi have dressings, plasters and other basics at reasonable prices and they are often on offer.

Lol. The theatre of the absurd. I didn't get that feeling that your post was patronising, rather TMI.
But then again I heard one friend of mine saying her husband goes to the toilet only 2-3 times during a day (for no.1) so what can I say...

Infrequently?

My kids are always in and out of hospital - I need big field dressings - and lots of them!

Those little plasters are never quite enough.

You said the dressing was out of date in 2008. Once every 9 years seems pretty infrequent to me.

Good point.

But, I don't normally check the expiry dates - my wife discovered it was all so out of date.
I checked the first aid kit that we don't normally take with us (but probably should) and everything is out-of-date. So, I want to replace it all and then start carrying the thing with us.
(We get through a lot more stuff but it's normally bought as and when needed (which is no good if you are in the mountains for example).

Normally we improvise (a muslin square makes a handy sling for a broken arm, for example!).

We took a load of out-of-date medication, etc., to our local pharmacy earlier in the summer during a clear out. They took back the medicines, tablets, ointments, etc., but said that as long as the packaging of the bandage-type stuff (gauze, plasters, antiseptic wipes, those big wound-coverage patches, and whatnot) was intact and it had been kept dry it would still be perfectly fine to use.

That's good to know but ones with any adhesive element do tend to turn into one sticky mess after a few years.

Anyway, a clean-out once in a while is a good idea.
