Just my penny-worth...

An awful lot of people I see claiming to exercise are really not achieving a whole lot. If after 45 minutes of exercise, your cheeks are a little pink, and you are glowing slightly, I mean you. My brother, a professional PT trainer calls these people "Scared to Sweat".
If on the other hand you stagger groaning in the general direction of the showers, a complete sweaty mess, you will have in all likelyhood acheived something.

Cheers

Jim
Lately in the Swiss weather... Im sweating after 20 mins of brisk walk to work in the morning, And Im on less than half my usual diet!!

Excercise.. and I will be sweating buckets!

Re: Why excercise may not help you lose weight

Here is photo of my breakfast plate (IKEA) from this morning

1 Plum
1/2 Avocado
1 Banana
1 Cup of green tea

The mix-

Tofu cut into cubes
+
Celery
+
Plain almonds and cashew nuts (walnut missing today)
+
red hot paprika powder
+
freshly grounded black peeper
+
my secret spice mix

Not a drop of oil was used in cooking the mix All water/steam power. Good fats amongst other nutrients in avocado and those nuts.

All set for a long day of walk with my Mrs.
I hope it inspires others to eat healthy That plate was filling too. I will take tasty and healthy foods over cheesecake any day.

If I had that for breakfast, I'd be spending the rest of the day in the lavatory.

Horses for courses, and all that, eh?

Breakfast very important meal of the day young chap I exercise so I need that. Plus I will be walking all day. It's filling but no way stuffy.

Anyway you should take dump first thing in the morning and then eat

Actually most people have breakfast first and then shortly after go poopoo, not to annoy you but it is a physiological response to eating (duet o stomach distention).

Hey, you're supposed to be out walking three thousand miles, not crapping about here on the forum.

Get outta here, young man!

"Scared to Sweat".
I think of myself as "too lazy to sweat", as I don't seem to do much of that, even after, say, 20 minutes at an average of 33 strokes per minute on a rowing machine at 70% traction.

Now, walking may not meet the demands of some of the more extremist members of this forum, with their 50 km bike rides and two hour sessions on the torture machines at the gym, but it's better than nothing, and is something that I'm likely to actually do.
I love walking, especially hiking. I don't do enough of it. Not enough willing walking partners. And I'd give up too easily if I went on my own.

About 18 months ago I bought a rowing machine, but now I can't even bring myself to spend 10 minutes on it. Dreadfully boring. I recently started cycling the 5km journey to work. I like that. I feel like I'm doing something useful. It's even faster than public transport, and I don't have to time my exit from apartment to bus stop.

At the risk of annoying you by agreeing with you, I go along with that. It seems sensible to make breakfast the biggest meal, in other words, to "break your fast". And have a light dinner. Eating a large dinner then going to sleep doesn't make sense. I have no hard data to back up this last statement though.
