| | Does any one know about Invisalign Prices?
Ok, so I don't trust dentists. I find them shifty-eyed and untrustworthy, but that's been my experience thus far. Nevertheless, this can't be avoided so ... Has anyone had Invisalign done in Switzerland? If so, what is the general price range? Most dentists/orthodontists have been very sketchy with their quotes. It would be good to hear from someone who's had it done. Thanks.

haven't exactly had it done, but got a quote for my daughter last year. Invisalign was about 12k, regular was 10k. we went for regular.

It was 5k in the States 4 years ago. Nothing ever happened at the periodic visits other than the orthodontist checking it out and saying everything looks good. Might want to consider getting it done somewhere else.

I second that. 12K is way too much. The cost of the trays to the dentist is less than 1,000 USD. In the US the cost varies from 3-6K, depending on the region.

I got a quote last year, because situtation of the teeth was not so bad, I was quoted 10K, normal would be 8K -
I am not too sure, but i think it is still produced in the US, so there is alot of importing done.

Go to a German dentist, you are very near the border.

I got new ones fitted and made in the UK in less than 4 days, the braces & 2 dental appointments cost 100 pounds at a private dentist! This is near Manchester though, not sure about in London. Maybe worth a quick trip to the UK to get it done and you can do some shopping whilst you're at it?

Mayby I can help.
I am doing the invisalign treatment right now.
I paid 8000CHF and I am correcting my complicated bite by ZahnCity next to the mainstation. My superdentist is Sofie Bergman from Sweden and she is specialized in Invisalign.
Can only recommend her to you all.
Have a great sommer

Hi, Louisegrocerybag. I know this is an oldish thread, but do you mind posting Ms. Bergman's contact info? Google failed me.

You need local.ch, not google. ZahnCity is given though not sure if Ms Bergman is still there or not. http://tel.local.ch/en/d/Zurich/8004...t&where=Zurich | The following 2 users would like to thank Medea Fleecestealer for this useful post: | |

Well, you haven't spoken to us (Dental Praxis Cham, chamzahnarzt.ch)! We have been offering Invisalign for 2 years and have done quite a few cases with expats (so we thought everyone on the forum knew :-) ). Pricing varies between CHF 4k to 6.5k, depending on the case.

Hi bevjswiss,
Unfortunately, since 2015 Invisalign has raised pricing on the Invisalign material by 30% and thus forcing us to increase pricing. The simpler cases are now around CHF 5k, while the upper limit has moved to 7.5k.
The good news is that the Invisalign patent on clear aligners expired in 2019 and currently there are a multitude of other clear aligner options. While we still offer Invisalign, we also work now with ClearCorrect (a Straumann company), as they offer the same price range as with Invisalign in 2015, while the product is backed up by deep research and development.
Just to add on the dental insurance coverage. Yes, all clear aligner cases are covered by the same orthodontic coverage under the dental insurance as with traditional braces. As there are several type of dental insurance, please consult your policy to identify whether it includes orthodontic coverage and whether there is a coverage limit.

Reason: addition of last paragraph on insurance

My dentist tried to talk me into getting an invisiline treatment . At first I ignored her sales attempts and said I was quite happy with my crooked teeth. Then she told me it not just about cosmetics but started predicting all sorts of terrible things that would happen to me hygiene and health wise . I agreed to have a pre study done , which set me back about 600 CHF. The overall quote was for 16 000, but my experience was that she was definitely going to overrun that by at least 30 percent .
I went to Hungary where the dentist told me her health and hygiene arguments were bogus and secondly gave me a free quote saying he could do a fully certified inivsiline treatment for 6K.
I showed the quote to my dentist who suddenly agreed that the treatment had nothing to do with hygiene and secondly agreed it was not necessary at all

Technically your dentist is correct, as crooked teeth do indeed cause a whole host of problems with the passing of years. They can affect speech, then can lead to TMJ, they can cause heavier wear-and-tear on specific teeth, they are harder to clean and thus build up plaque and can lead to gum disease and periodontitis. There is a wealth of research done on the subject in many countries around the world; you can google it, read it, decide yourself.
That said, your dentist's pricing appears pretty steep ... then again, your location is Zurich, so that is not surprising. We are in Cham (Zug) and our pricing in the practice is more modest. Not to toot the horn further, but doing this treatment in Hungary comes with additional travel costs plus a significant time comittment. The 6k (I presume to be EUR) is similar to ours. Then consider that Invisalign recommends that the dentist does an evaluation every 4-6 weeks in order to monitor the development. You can risk it and extend that to 3 months due to being really compliant and wearing your aligners as required (which by the way only happens in about 20% of the cases), but in a case running 2 years that will still have you heading to Hungary 8 times. And if you don't wear your aligners and run from one tray to another too quickly, you can truly bugger up your teeth.

but don't the invasilign parts themselves trap food and gunk and thus in themselves present an increased risk of many of the things you say you can get from not doing a treatment?
As for the travelling stuff, I understand some Budapest dentist clinics even have partner dentists in Zurich where they do the checks and other small stuff and you only need to fly over for the more costly parts of the treatment.

You then need to brush your teeth before putting them back on. And you also brush your aligners by the way.
My son is going through the treatment at the moment. The estimated cost was similar to normal braces, ie around 7K.

It is advisable that you brush your teeth after every meal before putting the aligners back on. And you need to wash the aligners regularly, and lightly brush them inside when you brush your teeth in the morning and in the evening. Of course, if you eat with your aligners, don't take care to clean them and don't regularly go for dental cleaning then you are heading in the wrong direction for sure. It is the same with braces.
I don't know your case, your teeth might be crooked in a way that avoid any of the typical pitfalls and therefore you do not need to do teeth alignment. I was commenting in the general case. | Quote: | | | | | As for the travelling stuff, I understand some Budapest dentist clinics even have partner dentists in Zurich where they do the checks and other small stuff and you only need to fly over for the more costly parts of the treatment. | | | | | Cannot comment on this past as I don't know about any of that.
