Re: Good english-speaking dentist in Basel?

I highly recommend my dentist Alexandra Köhler, who speaks english and does an amazing job with her assistant. I remember a few years ago i had a light cavity that she fixed so well and gently that I didn't even need an anesthetic.

I went to Monika Sand in St Louis. Easy to get to on the #11 and a great dentist. Her prices were incredibly reasonable and her English is good.

Re: Good english-speaking dentist in Basel?

In France, dental charges are regulated according to what is reimbursed by the French health insurance system. Doctors and dentists have the choice to follow these prices (so their treatment is 100% covered by French insurance) or to charge higher prices.

Ask if the dentist is conventionné ("follows the regulated dental charges") or whether they charge a private tariff. If they are conventionné, the charge for the root canal varies depending on which tooth is affected: it costs EUR81,94 if the tooth is a molar. You may also be charged for the consultation (EUR 23) and any additional follow-up visits that are necessary -- it is always worth asking in advance if you are unsure.

A quick web search shows that Dr. Monika Sand, recommended above, is conventionné, so she should charge the regulated prices.

https://www.doctolib.fr/dentiste/st-louis/monika-sand

Here are the official French charges:

http://www.ameli.fr/assures/soins-et...-dentaires.php

The word for 'root canal' is dévitalisation. Google translate should help you with the rest of the words on the page.

Re: Good english-speaking dentist in Basel?

Ive just had some implant work done by Garry Bonsall.

Despite been a little weary of dentists, he was quite re-assuring and his work was very good.
I have had 2 implants and two more removed and his prices are reasonable for Switzerland.
The fact he is English and his Surgery is very moder helped alot too.

Give him a try.

I'm so sorry for not seeing your question before now!

Yes, Tram 11 and then about a 10 minute walk. I have not idea what a full root canal would cost. The first visit she drilled out a bad tooth and treated it before putting in a temporary filling and it cost me 25chf.

Re: Good english-speaking dentist in Basel?

Hi All,
would anyone be kind to recommend a dentist who is not too expensive, speaks English and is located in Allschwil.
Last time I have paid CHF 2500 for root treatment and a filling in a local clinic, but I am not happy with the end result.

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Replying to my post because I am withdrawing my recommendation

After four years of periodic visits, the last one took the cake: I was concerned about a specific tooth so when I went in for a cleaning (which is next-to-useless, by US standards), she never even looked at the tooth. No x-rays, nothing. Not happy with this, I found a local dentist and went yesterday.

X-rays show that the tooth in question has "extensive" decay under the filling, as well as three other teeth that need prompt attention. If this had been noticed YEARS ago, the damage may not have been so bad.

Penny wise, pound foolish, in this case!

I have been going to Dr Anner

www.annerdent.ch

He is very thorough, pleasant, considerate and speaks very good English.
I just had a root canal and a crown and the process was quite simple with him. Not sure about the cost yet, as the bill hasn't arrived.

It's a crown I need, on a molar, so it has to be right first time.
So far, asking around and known prices, a crown can be from €1000 (DE), to CHF 1600 (fixed price CH in well know English speaking dentist) to @CHF 3000 (another well know (and highly acclaimed) Basel dentist mentioned in this thread).
If you would be so kind as to post the figures when the bill arrives.

I got two bills: one for the crown itself (614 chf) and one for the dentist (2700). This included the root canal (with multiple visits to ensure that everything was correct) as well as the crown prep and fitting. Expensive, yes, but I am happy with his work.
