Combination Car Seat - Not Allowed in CH?

Hi Folks

Am in the market for a combination car seat for my child. Basically that is a car seat that can be placed in a rear-AND-forward facing position. A common brand that does this in UK/US is Britax. I see that they sell in CH, but none of their combi-seats.

Anyone know if combination seats are allowed by Swiss law? I can look to buy one next time we are in the UK, but want to be sure it's okay by Swiss standards.

Just editing this as I see Britax do a seat for children up to 13kg. I was actually looking for one that went through 18kg. I'm assuming it's legal looking through other threads. Anyone have a recommendation for one they use?

Re: Combination Car Seat - Not Allowed in CH?

Hi - I'm not sure of the law, but if you are interested in purchasing a Britax combination seat, I have one in excellent condition that you could buy. We brought ours from the USA a few years ago, but the minivan we purchased has built-in car seats for our children. It's a Britax Marathon with a light blue cover. We purchased it for about US$250 and are willing to sell for 150 CHF. If you are interested, please PM me. Pick-up would be in canton Zug.

Re: Combination Car Seat - Not Allowed in CH?

Technically, car seats are supposed to have an ECE sticker specifying version 44.03 or .04 though I think most US approved seats will pass the EU norms as well.
From what I understand, the TCS doesn't feel it's necessary to approve a vast number of seats and doesn't think that keeping your kids rear-facing for any length of time is important. Apparently, for this reason, as long as you have a seat which has foreign approval, it should be allowed here, too.
