May I ask what qualifies you to debunk years and years of work by scientists that has been scrutinized and finally published?

Speaking of rare diseases, in Switzerland we now have 6% of the population, or 500'000 people (mainly children) suffering from around 7000-8000 different orphan diseases.
Do you understand the issue with malaria and sickle cell?

So you just joined a forum to rage against vaccinations for no particular reason?

Bit troll-oll-oll, no?
No, how you see me raging when I am merely pointing out facts is interesting.
I saw this post feed and noticed that one person was being bullied so I joined.

And by the way, it's not just children who have to get vaccinated. Adults too, and I have had most of them....certainly plenty of tetanus shots.

Really quite accusatory your remark. Not surprising I guess as in your book all people who question the 200-year old technology of vaccination or who point out issues are:
1. crazy and delusional
2. dangerous to society
3. uninformed and stupid
can you made add to that list?

Would you like to expand on what you mean? Malaria is rare in Switzerland but common in Africa? What I am missing?

The thread was active more than 3 years ago. The only update back in 2017 was just a link to an anti-vaxxer story.

Why jump on the thread now?

If that's your best answer, then it only serves to show that you haven't done your research.

The first mumps vaccine was a dead virus so certainly did not cause mumps. It also wasn't sufficiently effective, hence was discontinued.

Mumps causes 1 death per 10,000 infections and maybe 10 times that in infertility issues but I'd love to see you prove the vaccine even comes close to that level of risk.
Are you taking about mumps causing death in Switzerland or are you looking at other countries? In Switzerland, no one has ever been reported dying from mumps and statistics for infertility due to mumps infection have not been kept.

Triviraten® by Berna was indeed insufficiently effective but also caused cases of mumps, which is reported by the Federal Office of Public Health.

Proving that vaccines carry risk is notoriously difficult but there are a few scientific reports that place the risk of medium to serious adverse effects at 1 in 10,000.

I am not researching Malaria. Why don't you share/educate instead of being arrogant and pompous?

Why not? It's still as relevant a subject as ever.
And why do people who question vaccines become anti-vaxxers despite being vaccinated?
If you question religion, you are not accused of being anti-religious.
If you question history, you are not accused of being anti-history.

But then this all has already gotten you your first nice red blobs.

What is your target? Do you think by reviving an old thread people will suddenly change their mind and follow you?

Yep, especially in the Linth plain before they channeled the Linth. That's a 30 minute drive from Zurich tops. Pretty close to home. I'll take the usually manageable inconvenience of a chronic illness that MAY have been cause by a vaccine over the very acute and often life-shortening effects of the diseases I was vaccinated against.

Re: Avoiding Vaccination?

'Sfunny. I used to be a passionate amateur historian, with an enormous interest in the Ottoman Empire from the 17th century to its demise. I still have tons of books and documents on the subject gathering dust in the library. I used to be able to talk for hours and hours on the decline of the Janissaries, the Tanzimat reforms, the Armenian massacres and Balkan nationalist movements, sometimes to actual people!

Had I met an actual scholar of Ottoman history, however, I'd have stfu and listened, because all the amateur research in the world will never touch proper academic rigour, the risk of a loss of reputation and the attention of an army of editors, not to mention attentive and eager rivals in the field.

I'm not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree, but even I managed to work that one out. Shame some of these amateur epidemiologists can't do the same.
