| | Star Wars birthday party "stuff"
My son is 6 in June and is desperate for a star wars party - which I agreed to thinking it would be a fairly easy "theme" to fill.... but I'm struggling to find any star wars paper plates, cups, decorations etc. Normally I'd get this kind of stuff online, but I've googled til I'm blue in the face and I can't find any sites that will ship this stuff to CH without costing the earth and I haven't found any CH sites that have Star Wars party stuff.
So, any tips for me? Anyone know if star wars party stuff is available in any actual real-life shops? I've looked quite a few places but not found it. I suspect that Toys R Us might be a good bet but it's a long way from here so not really somewhere I can pop in to - their website isn't too helpful.
So.... a long shot.... but does anyone happen to have the answer? [May the force be with you if so ]
Thanks
Lisa

There are no Star Wars plates, cups etc that I know of (I doubt there would realistically be any demand for them, especially in CH, so no point in stocking them)... if I were you i'd just get lots of things with gold stars on them (seen party plates etc like this), hang gold stars from the ceiling everywhere, maybe tape a lot of large sheets of black paper on the walls (yes, with gold stars stuck on it, hell why not print off pics of X-Wings and TIE-Fighters too and stick them on there having mock dogfights, it would be AWESOME), then let the costumes do the rest.
Fantastic idea for a party though, i'm sure you'll have a great time. |

I can't see why all the plates, cups, napkins and decorations need to be actual star wars branded items. Order or make an excellent cake, have some games around the theme such as pin the light saber on character or hit a spaceship pinjata with one and have stars and space themes as decorations.

(and it's his birthday so I feel it's my duty to at least make an effort to do things that he likes.... just for one day!)
I like the idea of print-it-off-cut-it-out-stick-it-on though. Have used that before pirate party.....

I'm in the US right now and will be until the 19th. You could order what you want and have them ship it to my house in the US. I'd be happy to bring it home to Lausanne in my suitcase for you.
You'd have to come pick it up in Lausanne, but it's an option. Let me know and I'll send you a PM with my US address.

There are companies in the UK that my neighbour uses to get edible photos and decorations done for birthday cakes. You upload an image and they post it to you. Might be worth trying.
Instead of star wars cups you can use straw decorations with charters that slip over the straws - I have seen these in Toys r Us when I was looking for other themed birthday party items. At least each kid can identify their own cup from the character. Plates you can use plain ones - after all it will be covered in cake and napkins with stars that I see everywhere.

I've not lost hope yet though - I might have a go across the border in Germany - they seem to do the whole themed-plate thing better (or maybe I mean worse perhaps?!) than CH!

And if not then the other guys are right, I can do a whole bunch of stick on motifs and I'm sure that will impress a bunch of 6 year olds anyway!

I sent you a PM but I'm using the iPhone version so I have no idea if it went through or not. If it didn't send me a PM, maybe I can help

Hi,
I just did a Star War party for my son who turned seven. Got all the costumes & Masks (Yoda, Dart Veda, Anakin, Luke Skywalker, Jabba etc) from Toys N Rus. They were all between CHF 29.90 to 49.90 each. There were no cups & plates though so printed out all Star Wars characters and pasted them on plates & Cups.
Made a ship out of card board & sheet to hang on the ceiling. Also made the room dark with black sheets and pasted all star war ships & characters on it with some red, green light so it looked pretty good.
He was happy at the end. The Swords (or whatver they call them) - also bought them from Toys n Rus. Though in a magazine recently I did find a place in Germany who sells all this stuff (will try and find it tommorrow) but was equally expensive after including the postage.
All the Best for your sons party though.
BR.

In the event you stumble on sites that will ship to the EU but not Switzerland you can always use Post Restante. For Basel I would try the post in Saint Louis:
Your name
Poste Restante
6 Rue De Huningue
68300 Saint Louis
France
More on using Post Restante: linky
I also tried this on Amazon's site and it worked fine, using a Swiss card and billing address.

You could chop his hand off and tell him you're his father for the ultimate Star Wars experience. (And before somebody bothers. Yes, I do know Lisa would be his mother). |

Someone else mentioned making a piņata, here are instructions for making a Death Star piņata.
Also, here is a design you can print and cutout for making "take-out boxes" which make great things to hold party favors in.
This way you can print out and paste Star Wars pictures on the sides of the boxes. I think this would be pretty "fun" for him to do - a way for him to help getting ready for the party and help you to make use of his excited energy leading up to the event. | This user would like to thank Peg A for this useful post: | |
