Marriage and Partnership in CH

Just got this letter in the post:

Quote:
"Integration Basel" regularly organises events on various topics for people living in Basel. This summer we provide information on the topic of “Marriage and Partnership”. There we discuss patterns, opportunities and difficulties to cohabitate in Switzerland. You will be informed – amongst other things – about gender equality, Swiss lay concerning marriage and partnership and where you can find specific information in Basel.

We would like to answer your judicial issues as well as your general questions. At the aperitif after the meeting there are further opportunities for discussions and networking.

The speakers are held in German, but our translators guarantee fluent communication among the attendees.

18th August 2010, 19:30-21:30 hrs, UNION, Klybeckstrasse 95, 4057 Basel

Organisers:
www.welcome-to-basel.ch
www.halt-gewalt.bs.ch

Integration Basel’s address: Schneidergasse 7, CH-4051 Basel,
Tel +41 61 267 70 45
Given all the recent posts on divorce, what can/can't I do, pre-nup agreements etc., I thought this might be of interest to those in Basel.

Mods - if you feel this should be an event, let me know, but I wasn't sure as it is not something I am organising.

Aye, both me and Mrs got separate ones too. I guess some halves may want to attend without the other knowing

Eitherway, they're only 8+ years too late

Re: Marriage and Partnership in CH

Well, we haven't received anything.

I know people here tend to get ready everything decades ahead of the time, but...find this strange. Don't you just normally go and ask an authority when you need sumfin? I guess the procedure is complex here, so they run an info workshop on it.

When are they going to invite you to "how to organize your own funeral" info workshop?

Basel is special in this regard. They like workshops and apéros and networking.

It's from Basel-Stadt.

You think this would be a good idea to ask a guy to come on a date on this event?

Re: Marriage and Partnership in CH

Is this event specifically aimed toward those who are living in Basel?

I live in Bern. Would the same information still apply?

Re: Marriage and Partnership in CH

Actually I'd be interested in something similar in Zurich - info on how to "legalize" a partnership besides getting married; as far as I know there is the option of a registered partnership, but that is only for same-sex couples. Do you know of any body / place to get informed about the legal issues?
(wouldn't want to be blocked from e.g. seeing my parner in hospital in an emergency situation)

Yeah, exactly...Info is a good thing, sometimes descrete goes a long way, too.

Although, Beggster, thinking about it, go. Go and if you meet some marriage material looking lost, tell'im your other half forgot about this meeting, with the cutest smile. Where would be the meat market spelled out so clearly, haha...Fun fun fun.

Lately the forum has gotten into this mood of :" dating younger people", prenups, how important is marriage and stuff.... It puts a lot of pressure on a single guy!!!

Must be the heat.... err the weather type not the other one....

Er, isn't that sort of the point of marriage, though? Why go through drawing up and signing multiple bits of paper where one will do?
