I'm pregnant and need a Dr. in Zug area

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to this site, but i've been living in CH for 2 years now. I recently found out I'm pregnant!! Yeah! My problem is that I had a gynecologist but she is now on leave for her own pregnancy. So the process of finding a doctor begins again. I looked up doctors in the phone book and internet, visited their websites, but I still don't know who to choose. Is there anyone in particular that you can recommend? Should I just use one of the 2 doctors at the Zuger Kantonsspital or go to an office in town? This will be my first baby and I don't know what to expect, especially in a foreign country. Thanks for any recommendations!

Re: I'm pregnant and need a Dr. in Zug area

Congratulations! I am nearing the end of my first pregnancy myself and have been seeing Dr Frank Illigen in Zug since the beginning of the pregnancy (see website here: http://www.frauenarzt-praxis.ch/index.html). I would highly recommend him. He can speak English very well but I have to speak German to his practice assistants (they speak very clear High German to me). However, he only deals with births at the Andreas Klinik in Cham - not the Kantonsspital.

Note that his practice is shut for holidays until Monday 2nd August. Good luck!

Depends on where you'd prefer to give birth- Kanton Spital or Andreas Klinik in Cham. Definitely take a hospital tour of both, then make your decision on a Dr.

I can highly recommend Dr. Andina. He's affliated with Andreas Klinik and delivered my 2 boys. Personally, Andreas Klinik was great both times for giving birth.

Congrats. Don't forget to discuss implanting a chip with your paediatrician.

Dr Gisin in Cham was our gynecologist for our baby recently and was fantastic... uncomplicated and speaks perfect English.

Hi there,

Congratulations! Some very exciting times ahead. I saw Dr. Regula Luipi. I would highly recommend her as she is also very sensitive to your needs. If you choose to deliver in the Kantonspital she works there too and can possibly be there for the delivery. Something you would have to work out with her.

The only potential problem is not all of the administrative staff speak very good English, but we managed to get by without a problem. I was amazed that after only seeing the midwife there once she remembered my name long after I had delivered.

I had a difficult pregnancy and Dr. Luipi was fantastic the whole way through.

Dr. med. Regula Leuppi
Schmidgasse 3, 6300 Zug
Tel.: 041 710 65 60 Fax: 041 710 66 94
E-Mail: praxis@datazug.ch

All the best, I hope this helps.

You don't have to choose your doctor based on the hospital that you want. You can visit your doctor and then give birth in another, but you won't have this physician overseeing you delivery. Which for 90% of the time would be over kill anyway.

You don't need a gynecologist at a delivery unless there are problems. All doctors provide detailed notes of your pregnancy up to the birth to any hospital you intend to attend.

I second that. I see Leuppi too. I find her much more sensitive than some of the others I saw. Leuppi works with Dr Flütsch, so she could schedule in the ops I needed too. I just hope she doesn't retire before I get around to my next baby.

I've had a couple of complicated pregnancies, 2x pre-term labor and some complications afterwards. At the first sign of anything wrong she saw me and took it seriously. She managed my pregnancies really well and kept both babies in to near their due date and managed the induction to get the first one out. The second came too quick

My wife went 2 a gyno in Baar opposite the station who failed 2 spot our son struggled for life in the final months. He nearly died. My wife subsequently learnt you need to make sure you gyno is FMH member, she was not.

Hi,

I recently learned that I was pregnant as well and made an appointment with Dr. Gisin for next week. Can you tell me of your experience with him? The assistant I had on the phone yesterday seemed very nice and spoke perfect English. Also, did you deliver at the Andreas Klinik in Cham? What was your experience like?

Thank you for all the help

Re: I'm pregnant and need a Dr. in Zug area

Hi Andrea,

Im currently in my 34th week now and Ive been going to Dr Gisin throughout my pregnancy. He speaks good English and very proffessional, so far all my doubts and worries have been answered by him.
Also viewed two options where I can deliver, and I personally find Andreas Kilinik in CHam better compared to Kantonspital in terms of comfort and the approchable nurses... At the end of the day, a hospital is still a hospital whereby I find it a lilttle cold and not a pleasant baby enviroment.
Hopefully, we can find a time to meet up with our baby over coffee!! Good luck!!

Good luck ladies... Week 39 and being admitted this evening I've never found any gyn. I've been happy with since living here but the new one I have since we've moved is really great and the midwives too... looking really forward to and more confident about this birth! Wish me luck and wishing you all luck as well... Be safe and healthy!
