Okay.
This is the weirdest ad I've ever seen on EF, but good luck to your friend.

OP: Ask from a hospital for the details you want. One of my friends needed a special type of blood - O as well I think and Fribourg kantonal hospital gave some info on it.

O is a pretty common Caucasian blood type... surely the hospital should be able to inform the OP where to get a kidney.
I'm O, he can one of mine - 50,000 USD and any future related health bills...

Good luck!! | | | | | Actually, I agree that it is a weird thread.
Anyone undergoing dialysis three times a week probably has grade 2-3 chronic kidney disease, if not close to kidney failure. Such a person would be registered with the clinic for possible transplant and should be informed about who to contact and discuss transplantation with.
If the OP is looking for someone to get an organ from using the grey or black market, then I am not sure the EF is the right place.

If your friend is in Bern, I'd check with the Inselspital (university hospital). There's probably a transplant medicine group. O is the most common blood type among white Americans. Although, Carlos is absolutely correct. If he is receiving dialysis already, he's probably been assessed by nephrologists and possibly by transplant specialists.

Sorry, but anyone with the serious medical condition you describe (dialysis three times a week) is being tightly monitored by their doctor and the hospital, and will be on the transplant list. People needing a transplant don't normally go out - or get their friends to go out - and find their own replacement organ. Apart from anything else, you could very quickly end up on the wrong side of the law, not to mention in deep sh1t ethically.
Find out from the hospital - if you are empowered to act on behalf or with your friend - what your options are. This is not a question to ask on an open forum.

On a serious note, OP, your friend should already be on a list of donors. I am really not sure how the system works ie whether you can find a donor yourself through other means. Your intentions may be honourable posting on here and desperately asking for help (someone once told me that if you throw enough shit on the walls, some of it is bound to stick), but you got to agree that you cant help being sceptical of such posts. Its a kidney we are talking about here - not just donating O-Type blood, or some parts of my body which will grow back (nails, hair etc etc) - which I will be glad to do any day.
I hope you find the information you're looking for and possibly a donor soon.

He could have one of mine for nothing, but if not fed regularly with alchohol , the kidney might reject the new owner.

Let's face facts. At 57 the op's friend is not at the front of the queue for any available kidneys that come along through normal channels.
In these cases it is usually a family member that steps up to the mark or, where compatible, a (very) good friend.

I think you misunderstood Begga. She said that it was the weirdest (meaning unusual I'd imagine) thread she'd ever seen on EF, NOT that it was a 'sacrilege' or that it was otherwise unwanted. If you were familiar with her posts, you'd know she is kind and helpful. She also wished you and your friend good luck.
I'm sorry, my blood type is A positive. If your friend is in CH, I guess going through his/her family and friends to find a living donor would be best, if the standard transplant list is too long. But I have no idea how it works here--I know it's becoming more common in my country though.
Edit: I just wanted to add that I understand why the OP posted on an open forum. I just imagine how I would feel if it were me or someone I loved... it's such a surreal and nightmarish situation to be in to need to find a new body part, so I guess I would ask just about anybody in order to have as much info as possible. Desperate situations sometimes lead to desperate measures, and you never know: sometimes strangers do extraordinary things to help someone in need. I read a story where a regular restaurant customer in the US ended up giving his waitress a kidney!

Dialysis is a really terrible thing and hard to go through and some times there are wonderful souls out there who are willing to give a gift of an organ.
There are un-ethical way and there are folks who engage in solitation of organs from unregulated countries; that is high risk and certainly not recommended.
I don't know much about the EU Kidney Disease patient advocacy scene, but I can relay the US scene. There is the AAKD (American Association of Patients with Kidney disease) who can perhaps provide some links, I actually use to know the distinguished founder of that group. There is also the National Kidney Foundation, they may be able to provide links to patient advocacy and support groups in Europe. In the US there is a Quality Improvement Organization contracted by CMS called the ESRD Networks: they have patients on thier board, perhaps the EU nations have something like that?
There is also the Shad Ireland foundation (he is a dialysis patient who engages in triathelons), perhaps that maybe worth a call.
There is also European Neprhology Medical societies who often have links to patient organizations you can try that as well. Other than that, hopefully some calls to the above can provide you some leads,
Im not an expert in this, I worked for a very large US-based pharma/biotech company within their Nephrology Theapeutic Area.
There are networks out-there and hope you find a gentle soul, there is nothing wrong with asking.
I wish you the best of luck!

I recently saw a documentary on how some young people in Iran, Pakistan and India sell their kidnies for as low as 2000 US. Maybe a short trip to that area is the solution.
P.S. If your friend goes to Iran, he should know that the kidnies will come with a %20 enriched Uranium | The following 3 users groan at aki for this post: | |
